Position: Co-Development Project Coordinator – City of Winnipeg’s Biodiversity Plan and Greenspace By-law
Organization: Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (Hybrid)
We are seeking a First Nations, Métis, or Inuit person to fill this position, but all qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. First Nations, Métis, or Inuit applicants are asked to self-identify.
Summary
The Centre for Indigenous Environmental Resources (CIER) is seeking to hire a Co-Development Project Coordinator as a subcontractor. The Coordinator will report to CIER and work collaboratively with CIER and City of Winnipeg staff on a day-to-day basis as they coordinate co-development of the City of Winnipeg’s Biodiversity Plan and Greenspace By-law and liaise between the City and Indigenous partners. The overall goal of the co-development process is to create a Biodiversity Plan and Greenspace By-law that meets and exceeds best practices and meets the legislative requirement of a planning by-law, while incorporating the interests, priorities, and knowledge of Indigenous partners. This approach advances a new way forward for city planning that is more responsive to the needs of all community members and incorporates different knowledge systems related to shared land, water, and ecosystems.
The successful candidate will have exceptional organizational and communication skills, the ability to navigate complex governance processes, and the initiative to identify and address emergent issues in an iterative work environment. The Coordinator must be able to complete tasks at a high-level in both collaborative and independent work environments.
