Job Title: Sustainable Programs Assistant
Type: age 30 & under / summer

  • Position Type: Contract – 8 weeks @ 35 hours per week
  • Remuneration: $18.00 / hour

Summary

Windfall Ecology Centre is a non-profit social enterprise dedicated to building sustainable communities. Working at the nexus of climate, energy, and water, we research, design, and deliver innovative climate change solutions. Our record of accomplishment includes achievements in public policy, energy efficiency, renewable energy, electric mobility, water protection and leadership development.

Windfall Ecology Centre is seeking candidates for the position of Sustainable Programs Assistant. The successful applicant joins a dedicated team delivering sustainability programs for homes and businesses. Reporting to the Director of Operations, the position provides a wide variety of customer service, technical, research, and administrative support as we work with a diverse set of community partners, including homeowners, business owners, retrofit contractors, utilities, and governments to promote energy efficiency and climate resiliency.

This is an entry level position, and training will include communications for climate action and sustainability programs, customer service, program details and delivery, and job shadowing.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • Connecting with leads, answering inquiries, managing clients, and coordinating services for sustainability programs
  • Outreach to businesses and homes to promote services and programs related to climate change adaptation and mitigation
  • Research, data collection, data analysis, and planning for multiple research tasks
  • Cataloging and organizing program materials and documents
  • Restoring office native rain and pollinator gardens
  • Curating content for social media, newsletters, webinars, and other communications channels
  • Attending scheduled staff meetings, events, outreach, and training sessions as required (occasional weekends/evenings)

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should be passionate about making a difference in the field of environmental sustainability, enjoy working directly with clients, and excel at customer service and research.

This individual must have above-average communication, analytical, and organizational skills and be able to multi-task. The successful candidate will have the ability to work with all types of people and think outside the box to solve challenges.

This position is funded in part by Canada Summer Jobs. This funding is available for applicants who are aged 15 to 30, who are a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or hold refugee status in Canada. Our full list of requirements include:

  • Are between 15 and 30 years of age at the beginning of the employment period
  • Are a Canadian citizen, landed immigrant, or have refugee status
  • Are eligible to work in Canada
  • Knowledge and interest in climate change, energy efficiency, and renewable energy
  • 1-2 years of customer service experience
  • Experience in social media and blog content creation
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications including Office suite, Outlook, and Teams (familiarity with Power Platform and Dynamics 365 is an asset)
