Job Title: Donor Relations
Organization: Toronto Wildlife Centre
Location: Currently located in Downsview Park (North York) with plans to move to the Rouge National Urban Park (Scarborough), GTA

  • Status: Permanent, Full-time

  • Compensation: $20-22/hour commensurate with experience

Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC) is a registered charity that provides rescue, medical care and rehabilitation to sick, injured and orphaned native wildlife as well as public education about wildlife issues. Job Summary

As a member of the Donor Relations team, reporting to the Donor Relations Manager, this role supports the day-to-day operations that keep Toronto Wildlife Centre’s fundraising efforts running smoothly. Responsibilities include communicating with donors, maintaining accurate records, coordinating in-kind donations, assisting with merchandise and deliveries, and welcoming visitors to the Downsview Park site. The position calls for strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a warm, professional approach to working with donors and the public.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond to donation-related inquiries by phone, email, and in person in a timely and professional manner
  • Accurately enter donations and related information into TWC’s CRM (eTapestry) and help maintain up-to-date records
  • Issue and send tax receipts, thank-you cards, and other donor acknowledgments
  • Prepare and send smaller-scale in-house mailings such as invitations or special communications
  • Support internal documentation and consistency in database practices
  • Coordinate in-kind donations by responding to inquiries, and working with program staff to ensure supplies are directed appropriately
  • Receive grocery deliveries from volunteer shoppers, and coordinate reimbursements
  • Process and restock merchandise as needed, including maintaining displays and recording purchases
  • Greet visitors to the centre, including members of the public who bring in animals, new volunteers, and others—and provide informal tours of the viewing hallway and education area
  • Route non-animal-related inquiries (e.g., media, education, volunteer, or facilities-related) to appropriate staff
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and packages
  • Assist the Donor Relations and Fundraising teams with administrative and fundraising tasks as required

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent (Post-secondary education in a related field—e.g. fundraising, communications or administration—is an asset)
  • Experience in a customer service-focused role
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
  • Experience with eTapestry or other fundraising databases/CRMs is an asset
  • Work or volunteer experience in the non-profit, wildlife, or environmental sector is an asset

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills; must be personable both in person and on the phone
  • Highly proficient with computers especially Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and CRMs
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Highly organised
  • Proven ability to multitask and prioritise
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to take initiative and be inquisitive
  • Ability to work well with a team and independently
  • Genuine concern for and understanding of wildlife and environmental issues

Physical Requirements:

  • Requires the ability to spend extended periods sitting and using a computer keyboard.

Working Conditions:

  • This position requires working near materials and animals that may trigger allergic reactions
  • Open office environment, with equipment noise and the possibility of frequent interruption
  • Some evening and weekend work will be required
  • Some off-site work may be required
  • Required to walk on concrete floors in the building
