Hiring: Lead Garden Maintenance Hand

Job Description

Living Harmony Landscapes provides clients in the Greater Victoria Region and Saanich Peninsula with holistic, professional horticultural services.

Our work is driven by a love for plants and a dedication to using sustainable gardening practices which aim to mimic natural systems. We mainly perform garden maintenance services for a loyal base of clients, but also offer design and installation work, as well as consultations and personalized garden coaching.

We are looking to grow our team this year and are currently hiring for one full-time (40 hrs/wk) Lead Hand position at Living Harmony. In addition to performing regular maintenance and installation work, this role involves providing ongoing supervision and mentorship to other staff, as well as assisting the company owner in administrative tasks, such as scheduling and managing client relationships, and hiring and training new staff during a weekly Business Development Day.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Shares our love and excitement for the work we do
  • Holds a minimum two seasons of full-time experience in the landscape industry
  • Holds a minimum one year of experience in a supervisory role at a landscaping company
  • Holds a class 5 valid driver’s licence and is willing to learn to drive with a trailer if not already trained
  • Has demonstrated leadership skills with a desire for continuous improvement
  • Possesses the capacity to take responsibility for personal learning and learn through working with others.
  • Understands customer needs and delivers services to effectively meet them.
  • Possesses the grit to work in all weather conditions and will welcome the challenge of regular physical work.
  • Is motivated to work effectively in small groups or alone
  • Possesses excellent time management and organizational skills, is efficiency minded, and has an eye for detail
  • Is committed to a cultivating a healthy team culture
  • Values and practice good communication skills with management and co-workers, including giving and receiving constructive feedback
  • Has the capacity to practice good self-care when working outdoors

  • $30.00-$32.00/hour depending on experience
