Position: Food and Beverage Manager

Position Summary:
The Food and Beverage Manager is responsible for the full operation of the restaurant, retail space, catering, and events. The position reports to the Executive Director, supervises Food and Beverage Associates, and coordinates training participants enrolled in the Food Service and Hospitality Training (FSHT) Program.
Key Roles/Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
- Develop and maintain all operations documents and protocols (e.g., training and procedures manuals, recipe books, etc.) in consultation with the Executive Director. Prepare accurate and timely financial and progress reports (e.g., daily and monthly expense/revenue tracking, monthly progress reports for the Board, and restaurant content for the AGM report).
- Oversee employees' hiring, training, scheduling, and supervision in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Oversee inventory control, food and supply orders, and the tracking of purchases, invoices, and waste.
- Supervise restaurant staff and manage the training and mentoring of Food Service and Hospitality Training Program placements. Act as the restaurant's ambassador and spokesperson to customers, the media, and the general public.
- Plan & execute marketing for the restaurant, including newsletter updates, social media, and advertising as needed.
Food, Beverage, and Retail Services:
- Develop and prepare menu items, including baked goods.
- Perform barista and food/drink/non-alcoholic cocktail preparation coverage as needed.
- Coordinate catering activities with Hub staff and oversee the preparation of catering items for events.
- Manage all menu changes, including costing and pricing, as required seasonally and ensure updates on the website, food delivery apps, and Touch Bistro POS.
- Liaise with Associates on retail product planning, preparation, and merchandising.

General:
- Ensure all Toronto Public Health regulations, health and safety, pest control, and disinfecting standards and procedures are followed.
- Ensure equipment is in working order and arrange for repairs and maintenance as necessary.
- Ensure maintenance of restaurant, retail space, demonstration & production kitchens, and patios.
- Ensure food service areas are kept clean and tidy.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- 2+ years of food, beverage, hospitality, and restaurant management experience.
- Menu preparation and baking experience a must
- A graduate certificate from a Food and Hospitality management program is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of the unique social purpose enterprise model.
- Barista and Bartending experience is required.
- Recipe and product development experience.
- Valid Food Handler, CPR, and WHMIS certifications are required.
- Working knowledge of graphic design using Canva or Photoshop.
- Knowledge of Touch Bistro POS, social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, Google Business), and food delivery apps (Ritual One, Door Dash, Skip the Dishes, Uber Eats).
- Must be able to lift, push, pull, and move products, equipment, and supplies (e.g., patio furniture, etc.).
- Flexibility to work various shifts (evenings and weekends) is essential.

Ability to work collaboratively within a team, as well as independently.
- Ability to manage multiple demands in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, Google Workspace).
