Position: Project Coordinator – Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Training Program
Organization: reThink Green
Location: Greater Sudbury, Ontario (remote with occasional travel)

Overview

reThink Green is seeking a dynamic and organized individual to serve as the Project Coordinator for the Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Training Program for Northeastern Ontario Communities. This initiative aims to provide municipalities and Indigenous communities with tailored training on urban agriculture and climate-resilient building practices. The Project Coordinator will play a key role in planning, coordinating, and delivering this impactful program.

Key Responsibilities:

Program Coordination:
• Oversee the day-to-day implementation of the Climate Adaptation & Resiliency Training Program.
• Develop and maintain a detailed project plan, including schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
• Ensure all activities align with the program’s goals and funding requirements.
• Track progress, report on outcomes, and identify risks or issues impacting project delivery.

Stakeholder Engagement:
• Act as the primary liaison for program participants, including local government staff, elected officials, and First Nations representatives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with collaborating partners, including the Georgian Bay Mnidoo Gamii Biosphere.
• Facilitate communication and coordination between stakeholders, partners, and the internal team.

Training and Events:
• Coordinate logistics for in-person and virtual training sessions, workshops, and events.
• Work with the project team to develop and deliver training materials tailored to participants' needs.
• Support the design and facilitation of project kickoff, workshops, and wrap-up events.

Budget and Reporting:
• Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with the approved budget.
• Prepare progress reports for the Executive Director and funding agencies.
• Ensure compliance with all grant requirements and deliverables.

Team Leadership:
• Collaborate closely with internal staff (Communications/Course Coordinator, Climate Innovation Officer) to ensure cohesive program delivery.
• Provide guidance and support to the project team, ensuring alignment with project goals.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies, Project Management, Public Administration, or a related field (equivalent experience considered).
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in project coordination, ideally within environmental sustainability, community engagement, or government sectors.
  • Familiarity with climate adaptation, sustainability, or related initiatives is a strong asset.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including public speaking and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in project management tools and software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Asana, Trello).
  • Experience working with municipalities, Indigenous communities, or other regional organizations is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Other Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation (for regional travel).
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends, as required.
