Position: Projects Manager
Organization: Manitoba Eco-Network Inc.
Location: Winnipeg, Manitoba (in person)

Then you might be the right person to join our team in the role of Projects Manager.

We are looking for a self-motivated, driven, organized individual with good time management skills, who can solve problems, and develop new projects from vision to reality.

The Manitoba Eco-Network (MbEN) is a not for profit, registered charity that has been connecting Manitoba’s environmental community and educating the public about environmental issues since 1984. MbEN uses a blend of program delivery and networking opportunities to carry out this mandate.

The Projects Manager supports the programs, research, and community engagement activities of MbEN.

In particular, the Projects Manager will lead the established Climate Safe, Green City project, the developing Home Energy Use Maps project, and will develop/incubate new projects/campaigns that meet the objectives of the MbEN strategic planning priorities.

Reporting to the Executive Director, the Projects Coordinator will also be responsible for assisting with administrative, communication, fundraising and other duties as assigned. Administrative duties will be a large portion of daily work activities.

Desired Experience

  • Academic and/or professional experience suitable to the position (or a combination suitable education and experience). A relevant Bachelor’s or Graduate degree is desirable.
  • Commitment to pursuing environmental and social justice, equity and decolonization.
  • Project management and organization skills.
  • Strong community outreach skills are a necessity, with the ability to comfortably engage with people of different backgrounds, such as vulnerable or underserved populations.
  • Proven written and oral communication skills. Writing is a very important aspect of this position.
  • Writing and reporting on grant applications is a key component.
  • Conducting research and analyzing government policy, legislation, and other documents.
  • Experience using/developing databases.
  • Fluency in using various fundraising platforms, such as Keela and CanadaHelps.
  • Experience with Wordpress and Mailchimp.
  • Experience managing social media accounts and campaigns.

General Responsibilities

  • Help develop strategies to implement Climate Safe, Green City, a neighbourhood-level climate adaptation project in partnership with Spence Neighbourhood Association, West Broadway Community Organization, and West End Resource Centre, as well as tertiary partners such as the Red Cross and City of Winnipeg’s Office of Emergency Management.
  • Build the organization’s connections and networks online and in person.
  • Develop/incubate new projects/campaigns, including the Home Energy Use Map project.
  • Develop grant applications and report to various funders.
  • Conduct basic work with our fundraising platforms.
  • Help implement elements of MbEN’s current Strategic Plan.
  • Assist in fundraising/appeal campaigns.
  • Assist in running Eco-Drinks and other social events as needed.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the Manitoba Eco-Network, including responding to email, answering phones, filing and data entry.
  • Assisting with financial tracking, reporting and administration.
  • Administrative duties will be a large portion of daily work activities.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Application Details

This position offers a flexible schedule (30 to 35 hours per week). Starting pay is $24.78 in accordance with the CUPE Collective Agreement. Three weeks holiday per year, with an additional week off between Christmas and New Year’s is part of the Agreement. This is a one-year term position, with the possibility of extension based on performance and available funding. This is an in-office position, some amount of hybrid work is possible.
