Position: Project Manager – Health Care Decarbonization
Organization: Canadian Coalition for Green Health Care
Location: Remote (with frequent travel in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area)

  • Type: Full-time, 9-months (35 hours/week)
  • Wage: $75,000 - $85,000 per year (12 months) based on qualifications

The Project:

Accelerating Decarbonization Implementation at Canadian Hospitals is a one-year initiative supported by the Peter Gilgan Foundation, designed to support hospitals in the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area in identifying and advancing low-carbon solutions in their buildings and operations. Delivered in partnership with MaRS Discovery District, the project includes the development of a Community of Practice, knowledge translation resources, and funding pathways to support implementation. Depending on the success of the project, there is a possibility of project extension beyond the 1-year mark.


Position Overview:

The Project Coordinator will play a central role in implementing this high-impact initiative. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day operations, support hospitals in identifying GHG emission reduction opportunities, develop relationships with project partners, and coordinate project resources and communications. This position is ideal for someone passionate about climate action, community building, stakeholder engagement, emissions impact quantification, and project coordination.


Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Manage project timelines, work plans, and deliverables
  • Serve as main point of contact for participating hospitals
  • Coordinate communications between project stakeholders and partners
  • Support the creation and facilitation of a Community of Practice
  • Help hospitals identify GHG emission "bright spots" and opportunities for decarbonization
  • Collect and analyze project-related data and contribute to reporting activities
  • Develop and disseminate knowledge products (case studies, videos, funding catalogues, etc.)
  • Research and compile funding and collaborative purchasing options
  • Support development of business cases and decarbonization implementation plans
  • Contribute to project evaluation and wrap-up activities

To qualify for this job, applicants MUST:

  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Have a post-secondary degree in environmental studies, public health, engineering, project management, or a related discipline
  • Be comfortable engaging with a range of health care stakeholders
  • Be comfortable communicating in English (spoken and written)

Applicants should:

  • Have at least 3 years of experience in project coordination, preferably in the sustainability or health care sectors
  • Be passionate about sustainability, climate solutions, and health equity
  • Have strong organizational and communication skills
  • Be familiar with decarbonization strategies, GHG accounting, and/or hospital operations (an asset)
  • Be comfortable managing data, developing reports, and facilitating webinars or virtual meetings
  • Be comfortable with creating communications material for social media and for engaging a community of practice;

The following qualifications will be considered an asset:

  • Knowledge of French or other languages;
  • Energy- or climate-related professional accreditations (LEED, CEM, or others);
