Headquartered in Toronto, Clean Air Partnership (CAP) was founded in the year 2000. CAP is a charitable environmental organization that works in partnership with Ontario municipalities and other partners to implement climate action by reducing greenhouse gases and building healthy communities.

Reporting to the Operations Director, the primary responsibility of the Communications Coordinator is to is to support the staff team to reach target audiences with well designed, professional, and compelling communications. Adjust the tone, medium and the message to reach our different audiences including municipal staff, homeowners, climate experts, and funders. Assist staff to create communications that are read, understood, shared and acted upon.
Location:
This position is eligible for a hybrid work model. Attendance at our Toronto office at Richmond & Spadina is mandatory on Mondays and Wednesdays. For exceptional candidates we will consider fully remote.
Position Overview:
- Develop and implement communications initiatives that support our strategic priorities around climate action advancement in Ontario municipalities.
- Support external communication needs and key publications such as e-newsletters, blog content, annual reports, and website content.
- Copy edit and design research reports. Complement content with images, illustrations, infographics and data visualization.
- Develop visual materials (graphics, graphs, charts, maps, etc.) to promote CAP’s programs and communicate research findings.
- Promote, support, and participate in events and activities including forums, workshops, webinars, and the launch of special projects and reports.
- Lead the development and posting of content on CAP’s social media accounts.
- Create compelling content in a variety of digital formats, including videos, infographics, reports, and Q&As.
- Complete regular updates to the website including creating and editing content for multiple projects.
- Create a brand identity, marketing strategy and materials for our home retrofit programs.
- Work with senior staff to oversee CAP name change in 2025
- Ensure all communications are engaging, professional, and consistently relay our brand, vision, key messages, and strategic priorities.
Education
- A post-secondary education in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Graphic Design or another related field or equivalent experience.
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in a related sector - communications, journalism, marketing, graphic design, web design, social media management.
- Experience with content creation producing a variety of content types, including, blog posts, newsletters, and press releases.
- Experience with translating complex technical and policy concepts into clear, actionable communications. Experience with science communications is an asset.
- Experience in graphic design, web design, creating marketing materials and data visualization skills. Videography experience is an asset but not a requirement.
- Experience using platforms like LinkedIn and Facebook to engage audiences and manage content.
- Research experience, collecting and analysing data, reviewing literature, formulating hypotheses, communicating findings is an asset.
- Experience with Wordpress, Mailchimp, Loomly, Canva, Office365, Adobe Creative Suite, InDesign, PowerBI, and Tableau are assets.
- Experience working with municipalities, environmental organizations, or the building sector is an asset.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills. French proficiency is an asset but not a requirement.
- Understanding of all facets of communication principles and best practices.
- Strong detail-oriented organizational and project management skills: Managing and prioritizing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
- Initiative, creative thinking and problem-solving abilities: Ability to take initiative, develop innovative communication strategies and address challenges with resourcefulness.
- Ability to work independently and with small multi-disciplinary teams.
- Team player and self-starter with ability to prioritize and work efficiently under pressure.
- Sound judgment, a professional demeanor and strong interpersonal skills to interact successfully with stakeholders and staff at all levels.
- Solid understanding of climate change mitigation and adaptation at the municipal scale is an asset.
Compensation:
- Full Time.
- $65,000 – $75,000
- 15 days paid vacation
- Half day Fridays through the summer
- Complementary time off from December 24th – Jan 2nd
- Health spending account after 6 months
- Full pension offered after 6 months
- CAP employs a graded pay scale with defined annual increases for merit and inflation for all positions.
