Role:

We’re looking for a Junior Bookkeeper to join our Finance team in Toronto. This is a hands-on, full-time role that supports a variety of accounting tasks, with primary responsibility extending to four key areas: general accounting functions, budgeting, payroll, and incentive processing support. Accountability and reporting:

This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer of Summerhill (functional manager).

Responsibilities:

General Accounting

  • Must have knowledge of the accounting processes including but not limited to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliation, adjusting entries, trial balance
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft GP, an asset
  • check and verify source documents such as invoices, receipts, and reporting
  • allocate and post financial transaction details to subsidiary books
  • transfer data to the general ledger
  • reconcile and balance all accounts
  • collate and analyze account data and generate financial reports
  • maintain internal control systems
  • manage accounts payable and accounts receivable
  • prepare checks, payments and bank deposits
  • comply with relevant reporting requirements
  • assist with audits
  • maintain a complete filing system to support financial records

Qualifications:

  • Minimum three years of work experience in an accounting or finance role
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment working with time-sensitive deliverables
  • Detail-oriented and able to work efficiently with a high degree of accuracy
  • Strong ability to learn quickly
  • Superior organizational skills
  • Strong MS Office skills, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Previous work experience with Microsoft GP, an asset
  • Previous experience with ADP will be an asset
  • Comfortable working in a team-based environment
