Take a journey back to the 1920’s to a post and beam bank barn with sawdust on the floor and an outdoor gathering picnic space with cobblestone paths. Back to a time when our food was organically grown, produced, and sold locally. 

Nestled among the rolling hills of Grey Highlands, the Utopia Market is a 2.5-storey, 7,600 square foot new build post and beam bank barn, with a traditional threshing door at the top of the bank and a welcoming covered front porch. 

The four-season Market would sell food and products that are locally grown and produced along with value added items. Premium organic custom cut meats, premium organic vegetables and artisan breads are among the offerings ensure consumers have healthy options when it comes to deciding what to put on their table.

 Local organically grown crops such as wheat, spelt, barley and oats will be processed at the local mill in Gibraltar and then will be created into delicious artisan breads and treats using traditional methods.

Our Farm Markets are located in Feversham and Meaford, Ontario.

As a professional Farm Markets Baker your primary responsibilities are to:

• Prepare a variety of baked goods such as breads, pastries, muffins, cookies, pies, and other seasonal or specialty items.
• Ensure all products meet quality, freshness, and presentation standards.
• Package and label baked goods for sale in compliance with local health and safety regulations.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and attractive display throughout market hours.
• Provide excellent customer service, answer questions about products, and promote ingredients and baking methods.
• Operate a point-of-sale (POS) system, handle cash/card transactions, and manage daily sales.
• Track inventory and good to reorder, list items and note popular items and customer preferences.
• Follow and uphold food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness protocols.
• Daily baking preparation, loading/unloading supplies, and deliveries as needed.

You will be a great match if you have these skills and experience:

• Experience as a baker, pastry chef, or in a commercial baking setting.
• Strong knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and food safety standards.
• Ability to work early mornings and weekends, including outdoor market conditions.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a small team.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs. and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with farmers markets, seasonal ingredients, or artisan baking.
• Food handler certification or equivalent.
• Passion for sustainable, local, or organic food practices.
