About the Organization
The Bruce Trail Conservancy is one of Ontario’s largest land trusts and the steward of Canada’s longest marked footpath - the iconic Bruce Trail. We are driven by a vision of securing the Bruce Trail within a permanently protected natural corridor along the Niagara Escarpment. We responsibly connect people to nature and actively restore and care for land within the Niagara Escarpment UNESCO World Biosphere. We are a member-driven, volunteer-based, charitable organization governed by a 19-member Board of Directors. Working with each of the nine Bruce Trail Clubs, we are committed to caring for the Bruce Trail and to preserving land along its route. We value and welcome diversity and aim to be an accessible and inclusive community that honours, respects, and reflects the various ways people connect with the Bruce Trail and the Bruce Trail Conservancy.
BTC Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors, elected by our members, reflects a balance of ten core competencies that the Board has identified as key to good governance. These are posted on our website and can be found here. In particular, the Board is placing priority on finding candidates with knowledge and experience in the area of Conservation.
We are committed to expanding the diversity of our board and creating an inclusive and equitable environment, and encourage applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.
Scheduled Board meetings are held five times per year, during the months of September, December, February, April and June. Meetings may take place in person at our office in Dundas, via Zoom, or a hybrid of the two. Directors also typically participate on one Board committee and are encouraged to attend BTC and community events.
