Board Match with a Local Environmental Nonprofit

Organizations: various environmental organizations, part of the Sustainable Eastern Ontario Network
Location: Ottawa & Eastern Ontario

Time Commitment: Minimum 1 year commitment
Start Date: Rolling Start Date

SUMMARY OF ORGANIZATION:

Sustainable Eastern Ontario is a network organization that fosters partnerships and collaborations on sustainability activities throughout Eastern Ontario by

  • Connecting organizations together across the region;
  • Collaborating on shared programs, activities, and funding;
  • Capacity-building to enhance administration, communications, and fundraising;
  • Celebrating stories of success and resilience

Through our network of over 135 environmental nonprofits across the region, Sustainable Eastern Ontario will match potential board members with local organizations.

SUMMARY OF ROLE:

Many small environmental nonprofits in the Sustainable Eastern Ontario Network are in need of board members to sustain their organizations. These groups provide vital services to their local ecosystems and communities despite limited capacity and resources thanks to passionate board members who take ownership over the governance of these organizations. Applicants to this position will be matched with a nonprofit in the Sustainable Eastern Ontario based on their experience, education, location, and the board roles they might be able to fill (chair, treasurer, secretary, member at large etc.).

Youth or other newcomers to the environmental sector are encouraged to apply, as this position includes training from Sustainable Eastern Ontario on how to be a successful board member and how to take on various board positions.

COMPENSATION

This is a volunteer position and as such, does not include compensation.
