Position: Volunteer Board Member openings
Organization: Into The Woods Early Learning Child Care Studio
Location: Qualicum Beach, BC

Into The Woods Early Learning Childcare Studio is seeking engaged, thoughtful individuals to join our volunteer Board of Directors.

Into The Woods is a nature-based early learning childcare studio rooted in relationship, respect for children, and connection to land. We are a nonprofit society located in Qualicum Beach, BC, offering licensed early learning programs that support children’s curiosity, resilience, and sense of belonging through outdoor, play-based experiences.

As we continue to grow and strengthen our governance, we are inviting community members who are passionate about early childhood education, environmental stewardship, and community well-being to contribute their skills and perspectives at the board level.

About the Role

Board members play a vital governance role, working collaboratively to support the long-term health and sustainability of the organization. This is a hands-on, purpose-driven volunteer role ideal for individuals who want to make a meaningful contribution without being involved in daily operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing strategic oversight and stewardship of the organization
  • Supporting sound governance, policy, and financial oversight
  • Participating in board meetings (approximately 10 - 12 per year)
  • Serving on committees or working groups as needed
  • Acting as ambassadors for Into The Woods within the community

We’re Especially Interested in Individuals With Experience or Interest In:

  • Early childhood education or child development
  • Nonprofit governance or board experience
  • Finance, accounting, or legal knowledge
  • Human resources or organizational development
  • Fundraising, grant writing, or community partnerships
  • Environmental education or land-based learning

No prior board experience is required — orientation and support are provided.

Time Commitment

  • Approximately 4–6 hours per month
  • Initial term of 2 years, with the possibility of renewal
