About Us

Our core values express how we strive to operate as an organisation and what Fair Vote Canada wants for Canada’s democratic institutions:

  • equality and fairness

Directors shall not act contrary to the interest of Fair Vote Canada.

The board has authority over and is responsible for managing and supervising the activities and affairs of the corporation. It identifies strategic priorities and is responsible for:

  • Creating strategic plans and evaluating outcomes and impacts, in collaboration with the Executive Director
  • Ensuring legal compliance and fiscal accountability
  • Reviewing monthly and annual financial reports and participating in the development of budgets and financial oversight throughout the year.
  • Leading ongoing Board renewal and recruitment

  • Must be computer-literate, with experience using Google Drive and Zoom
  • Must not be a paid employee or contractor of Fair Vote Canada

We are looking to strengthen our Board expertise in the following areas. These skills are considered assets, but not essential:

As a national board, we’d like to have members from all provinces and territories. We especially encourage people from equity-deserving groups e.g. women, Indigenous Peoples, Black Canadians, other racialized communities, people with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+ as well as young adults and those of disadvantaged socio-economic background to consider participating in this election.

Time Commitment

  • Board members are expected to attend monthly board meetings and committee meetings, for a total of 2 meetings a month
  • In general, the time commitment expected of a director is in the order of 10–20 hours per month.
