Position: Youth Outreach & Education Program Coordinator (2 Positions Available)
Type: age 30 & under / summer
Organization: Fondation Oceanic Impact Foundation
Location: Remote (with required travel for in-person community events in the Great Toronto and Hamilton Area)

Hourly Wage: $17.60/hour
Term: 8 weeks
Hours: Flexible schedule, including required evening and weekend hours for events

About the Role

Are you interested in environmental education, community engagement, and hands-on learning? Oceanic Impact is seeking two motivated youth to join our team this summer.

This role combines flexible remote work with in-person community engagement. You will support the development of educational programs, outreach materials, and partnerships, while also helping deliver workshops and events across the community.

This position plays a direct role in bringing environmental learning to life, from behind-the-scenes planning to public-facing engagement. At least one successful candidate must be available to start before June 6, 2026, to support an upcoming ocean education fair in Milton.


Key Responsibilities

Program & Event Support

  • Assist with planning and preparation for educational programs, workshops, and outreach activities
  • Support and attend in-person events, including community fairs, workshops, and public engagements

Content & Resource Development

  • Coordinate and support the development of environmental education materials and hands-on learning activities
  • Create social media content, print materials, and website updates to support outreach efforts
  • Design visual assets such as graphics, event posts, and educational infographics using tools such as Canva

Resource Hub & Research

  • Analyze the Marine Education Knowledge Hub and explore ways to adapt content to our educational activities
  • Research environmental topics, educational tools, and relevant organizations

Partnership & Outreach Support

  • Help identify and research potential partners across local, community, environmental, and educational sectors

Administration & Reporting

  • Track program metrics and assist with preparing summaries of outreach activities
  • Provide general administrative support, including organizing files, scheduling meetings, and maintaining shared documents

Team Collaboration & Engagement

  • Attend team meetings and contribute ideas to strengthen program design, accessibility, and engagement
  • Take part in discussions on new project ideas aligned with your interests and strengths
  • Represent Oceanic Impact in a professional manner when engaging with educators, youth, partners, and the public

What We Are Looking For

  • A strong interest in environmental conservation, ocean literacy, or education
  • Willingness to learn, take initiative, and contribute ideas
  • Ability to work independently in a remote setting while staying organized and engaged
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Comfort with basic digital tools or willingness to learn (e.g., content creation or design platforms)
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends for events
  • Ability to travel to in-person event locations (reliable transportation required)

Eligibility Requirements (Canada Summer Jobs)

Applicants must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally entitled to work in Canada

Important Notes

  • This position is contingent on funding approval through the Canada Summer Jobs program
  • At least one position is expected to begin before June 6, 2026 to support the Ocean and Water Education Fair
