Green Party of Canada

Position: Volunteer Coordinator
Type: paid contract (up to 10 hours per week)

Organization: North Vancouver Federal Green Party
Location: North Vancouver, BC

The Green Party of Canada are seeking an energetic and organized Volunteer Coordinator in the riding of North Vancouver-Capilano to help power our ground campaign in the upcoming federal byelection. You'll be the engine behind our grassroots outreach — building and mobilizing a team of dedicated volunteers to connect with voters across the riding. At present no date has been set for the by-election, though it is largely anticipated this autumn. As such, it’s our goal to begin mobilizing our volunteers and building our capacity starting in July.

As a Volunteer Coordinator your role will involve the following responsibilities:

  • Volunteer Recruitment & Onboarding: Proactively identify and recruit new volunteers through community networks, social media, and voter contact outreach. Lead orientation sessions to onboard volunteers efficiently and ensure they feel welcomed, informed, and ready to contribute.
  • Organizing and attending a weekly canvassing session. Use our campaign database to build and assign door-to-door canvassing routes, matching volunteer availability and capacity to priority polls and neighbourhoods across the riding. It will also involve organizing debriefs and food for volunteers at the end of the session.
  • Making sure that voter conversations and information are added to our online canvasing system. Training to be provided.
  • Making calls to our membership base to see if they would be willing to renew their monthly subscription in support of the by-election, and to also ask if they’d be willing to volunteer. Training our volunteers to do the same.
  • Volunteer Scheduling & Retention: Maintain a dynamic volunteer schedule across all campaign activities — canvasses, phone banks, literature drops, and events. Keep volunteers engaged and motivated through regular communication, recognition, and a positive team culture.
  • To help the candidate with administration jobs such as the preparing and printing of campaign material.
  • Any other help as needed.

This is an exciting role which will give invaluable experience into organizing political campaigns.

It’s expected that the role will take up to 10 hours per week and last for around 10 weeks, from July into early September (with the possibility to extend should the byelection dates become known). The role’s scope and hours could increase depending on how successful the initial campaign outreach is.

The role pays $28 per hour and is a contract position. Support and guidance will be provided by the board of the North Vancouver Federal Green party EDA.
