Hiring: Organic Farm Staff
Farm: Northstar Organics
Location: Central Saanich, near Victoria, BC

Northstar Organics is a certified organic 10-acre, mixed vegetable and berry farm located in Central Saanich near Victoria. We grow a large variety of field and greenhouse fruit and vegetables, all for sale locally through farmers markets and to restaurants and stores in Victoria.

We provide the opportunity to learn the business of small scale intensive organic growing using innovative and modern farming techniques. This is a great work opportunity for someone that wants physically intensive, rewarding work. The huge variety of crops and tasks ensures that employees have a varied and engaging work experience.

We have two farm positions available.  Both are full-time, 9am – 5pm, 5 days per week.  Compensation is $20/hr to start. 

1 - Field and Greenhouse worker, to start February 2.  This work involves mostly field work such as preparing and seeding beds, cultivation, and planting, as well as some greenhouse vegetable work including planting, pruning, and trellising crops.  

2 - Produce packing specialist, to start May 4.  Work involves preparing produce for wholesale customers and farmers' markets.  This is a fast paced job with tasks including washing salad and drying using a commercial spinner, cleaning produce in the wash area, organising cold storages, packing daily orders to be ready for delivery.  The farm grows over 60 different crops, so there is a wide variety of packing skills to master.
