Position: Marketing Coordinator - Canada Summer Jobs
Type: age 30 & under / summer
Organization: Better Environmentally Sound Transportation
Location: Vancouver, BC

  • Reports to: Director of Programs
  • Work Arrangement: Temporary full-time, hybrid position with in-person events and workshops. Occasional weekend hours may be required.
  • Hours: 30 hours per week
  • Salary: $25 per hour
  • Start date: May 25, 2026
  • End date: August 10, 2026

About BEST:

Since 1991, Better Environmentally Sound Transportation (BEST) has worked to make sustainable transportation options better and more accessible. Our programs include initiatives that promote sustainable transportation and mobility equity, including programs that help newcomers, high school students, and seniors access the transportation options they need. We believe that everyone should be able to move around their communities safely and with dignity.

Position Overview:

The Marketing Coordinator is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of programs, as well as coordinating communications and marketing activities in alignment with BEST’s key objectives and strategic plan.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in coordination with programs' stakeholders, and community collaborators to schedule events and workshops.
  • Coordinate and lead online and in-person workshops and events, including sessions for seniors, youth, and newcomers with the team and/or volunteers. This includes travel to municipalities across Metro Vancouver.
  • Lead data collection after workshops and events.
  • Engage in co-designing and refining the workshop content and materials as needed (e.g., slides, brochures) with the team.
  • Prepare detailed reports on program activities.
  • Help recruit and organize volunteers and work with them on the day of the events/workshops.
  • Participate in program-related events and committee meetings as needed, and support facilitation, note-taking, and other related tasks.
  • Support the design, content development, and production of marketing materials.
  • Assist in assessing and reporting on the effectiveness of communication strategies.
  • Help ensure all communications align with BEST’s identity and mission and follow sponsors’ and donors’ guidelines.

Requirements

Required Education/Training

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Urban Studies, Geography, or a related fields.
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in program coordination, marketing, communications, or public relations.
  • Valid First Aid certification is considered an asset.

Qualifications

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders, including those in the non-profit sector and government.
  • Experience in workshop delivery, event planning, group facilitation, and volunteer management.
  • Experience working with diverse groups, particularly those from equity-seeking populations such as seniors, persons with disabilities, newcomers, and youth.
  • Experience with Zoom, Menti, and other digital facilitation tools.
  • Knowledge of best practices in communications and marketing, including digital marketing strategies and tactics.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and management tools.
  • Experience with website content management systems and email marketing platforms.
  • Passion for sustainable transportation and commitment to the organization’s mission.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with experience using Adobe Creative Suite and/or other design software.
  • Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills for evaluating and optimizing campaigns.
