Job opportunities to Urban Farm in Hamilton with Backyard Harvest

Backyard Harvest is an urban farm made of approximately a dozen backyards, mainly situated in the Locke St N neighbourhood of Hamilton, ON. We use organic and biodynamic methods to grow vegetables for local consumption.

We are seeking one to two full time field workers, starting in April or early May until October of 2026, 8-5 Monday-Friday. You will be involved in all aspects of growing healthy vegetables including transplanting, weeding, harvesting, washing, packing, and delivering vegetables.

Applicants should be physically fit (able to lift 40 lbs, squat, kneel, bend, etc.) and be able to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. We use bicycles regularly in urban farming so ability to ride a bike is required. Previous farming or horticultural or other produce work experience is highly preferred – please give a detailed description of such experiences when you apply as well as references who can speak to those skills.

Other requirements:

• Work well as a team member and independently
• Have dependable transportation to get to work on time
• Be able to commit to staying for the duration of the position
• Have strong attention to detail and be able to complete repetitive tasks
• Provide your own comfortable and effective work gear for all seasons and weather
• Be a kind human being – Bonus points if you love vegetables!

We pay above minimum wage; compensation is commensurate with experience and skill level.
