Program Coordinator

Position: Program Coordinator - Rain Ready 
Organization: Green Venture
Location: Currently, work-from-home / hybrid arrangements are in place, with the requirement to attend our EcoHouse office in East Hamilton and/or community events at various locations around Hamilton approximately 2-3 days/week including on some evenings and weekends, which would require the position-holder to reside in the Hamilton area.

  • Position type: Full-time permanent position (35 hours per week).
  • Salary range: $43,000 - $53,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Start date: Fall 2025

About Green Venture: 

We are an established and impactful non-profit environmental organization that inspires and equips Hamilton residents to take individual and collective action to preserve our natural environment, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and build a community resilient to climate change. We operate out of EcoHouse – an 1850s farmhouse in east Hamilton with 2 acres of gardens and sustainable living demonstrations. Our team is focused on making positive environmental action happen every day and we use creativity, practical tools, and demonstrating environmental action to engage our community to achieve our mission.  

About the Position: 

We are seeking an experienced Program Coordinator to support Green Venture’s Rain Ready Stormwater Rebate Program. Working as part of a team, you will develop and maintain rebate application processes and databases, educate community members about the municipal stormwater rebate program, and provide ongoing applicant support by sharing resources, answering questions, giving presentations, and visiting residential sites to support and approve eligible low impact development projects.  

Requirements and qualifications of the ideal candidate:  

  • You have a strong understanding of green infrastructure, water and soil quality issues, Ontario native plants and trees, and landscape gardening best practices. This is typically demonstrated by a combination of post-secondary education and previous work experience in fields such as: ecology, environmental science, Indigenous environmental studies, landscape architecture, environmental planning, horticulture, or forestry.  
  • You have a minimum of 1-2 years’ professional experience in project coordination, including tracking intake documents, creating reports, and data input and analysis. 
  • You are an adaptable and dynamic team player who works collaboratively with staff, community partners, and other stakeholders.  
  • You have excellent organization, communication, and customer service skills. 
  • You have knowledge of environmental issues in Hamilton and a strong commitment to sustainability as demonstrated through previous volunteer roles and/or employment. 
  • You are available for occasional weekend and evening work, and have a reliable method of transportation to travel around the Hamilton area.  
  • You have a Class G driver’s license and regular access to a vehicle or alternate form of reliable transportation to conduct residential site visits and attend outreach events. 

Responsibilities:  

  • Manage database of applications and track project deadlines and communications. 
  • Maintain accurate records, prepare reports, and contribute to grant proposals as needed. 
  • Maintain communication with the public to address questions and concerns about the rebate through various channels of communication. 
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials to promote the rebate program and increase intake and project success. 
  • Conduct on-site assessments to evaluate properties for rain garden and green infrastructure installation suitability. 
  • Provide personalized consultations and collaborate with homeowners to support comprehensive plans that integrate with existing landscaping and infrastructure. 
  • Offer guidance on selecting appropriate native plant species, soil amendments, and maintenance practices to ensure the long-term success and ecological benefits of rain gardens. 
  • Assist clients in navigating relevant permits, regulations, and incentive programs related to green infrastructure installation and stormwater management.  
  • Deliver engaging presentations, workshops, and outreach events to raise awareness about the importance of rain gardens and other sustainable landscaping practices. 
  • Represent Green Venture in meetings, conferences, and partnerships with government agencies, industry stakeholders, and community leaders. 
  • Participate in other Green Venture activities as required by the Executive Director (e.g. health and safety committee, staff meetings, other opportunities that may arise from time to time that require support).  

Terms of Employment: 

  • Full-time permanent position (35 hours/week) 
  • Salary range of $43,000 - $53,000, commensurate with experience. 
  • Enrolment in group benefits and a flexible health and wellness spending account. 
  • 35 hours per week, with occasional evening and weekend work required.  
  • We offer flexible scheduling, time in lieu, paid emergency leave, 12 vacation days, 11 holidays, and a winter office closure.   
  • Currently, work-from-home / hybrid arrangements are in place, with the requirement to attend our EcoHouse office in East Hamilton and/or community events at various locations around Hamilton approximately 2-3 days/week including on some evenings and weekends, which would require the position-holder to reside in the Hamilton area. 
  • The successful candidate will be required to complete a Police Reference Check.
