Non-profit Treasurer Position

Call for Treasurer / Financial Officer
(Volunteer / Part-Time – values-aligned, with potential to grow)

Organization: Bow Bioregion Regeneration Association (BBRA)
Preferred location: Calgary, Alberta - This position is primarily remote / work-from-home. Most responsibilities (financial oversight, reporting, meetings) can be carried out virtually.

The Bow Bioregion Regeneration Association (BBRA) is seeking a Treasurer / Financial Officer to support the financial stewardship of a growing, bioregionally focused nonprofit working at the intersection of watershed protection, ecological restoration, and community-led organizing in Southern Alberta.

This role is ideal for someone with financial, accounting, or governance experience who is motivated by climate action, reconciliation, and regenerative land and water stewardship, and who is interested in applying their skills to purpose-driven work.

Role overview
• Serve as Treasurer for BBRA, supporting sound financial governance and transparency
• Oversee budgeting, financial reporting, and compliance (with support from bookkeepers and accountants as needed)
• Advise on financial structures for grants, donations, fiscal sponsorships, and emerging revenue streams
• Support the development of scalable financial systems as the organization grows

Future opportunity - The right candidate may also help design the financial architecture for a new entity and potentially step into a CFO-type role if it is launched.

Who we’re looking for
• Experience in finance, accounting, bookkeeping, or nonprofit governance
• Comfort working with early-stage or evolving organizations
• Strong values alignment with ecological regeneration, watershed protection, and community-led change
• Ability to communicate clearly with non-financial collaborators
• CPA or nonprofit finance experience is an asset but not required

Time & compensation
• Initially volunteer or modestly compensated (depending on funding)
• Designed to grow with the organization as resources increase
