Position: TikTok Engagement Specialist
Organization: Ontario Clean Air Alliance
Location: Toronto/GTA or remote from anywhere in Ontario

Part-time contract position: 6 months (renewable)

An energy revolution is sweeping around the world: 92% of new power added last year came from renewables – mostly low-cost wind and solar.

Meanwhile in Ontario, renewables are on the decline while Doug Ford locks us into high-cost American nuclear reactors, enriched uranium imports from the U.S., and more polluting gas. That means higher hydro bills, dirtier air, and a less secure energy future right when the world is leaping to embrace low-cost, smart energy.

Ontarians deserve clean, affordable energy too. But unless people know what’s at stake, we’ll get stuck with yesterday’s dirty energy while others move ahead.

Who We Are

The Ontario Clean Air Alliance (OCAA) led the successful campaign to phase-out Ontario’s five dirty coal-fired power plants. We are now working to move Ontario to a 100% renewable energy grid.

The Role

Your role in our team will be to produce engaging, accurate, and insightful content that highlights how renewable energy is sweeping the world.

You will build a narrative about the opportunities for Ontario (and Toronto) to move to an affordable & secure renewable electricity future instead of building American nuclear reactors and importing enriched uranium and dirty gas from the U.S.

The goal of your work is to inform and engage gen z/youth in our cause, in a way that inspires optimism, conversation, and action.

Ideally, you live in the GTA.

Responsibilities

Your hours will be divided between:

• Bringing to life content briefs assigned by our Comms staff
• Pitching and producing content that leverages trending sounds and memes to communicate our organization’s ideas in new, youth-targeted and accessible ways
• Stimulating page reach and growth by engaging off-page with related content (watching videos, liking, and commenting)
• Curating related content to repost to our page
• Relationship building with relevant creators and potential collaborators
• Staying informed and up to date on current trends, and engagement strategies

Experience

You know the TikTok platform. You’ve grown up with it. You follow change makers and idea makers.

You have experience creating content for yourself or clients that speaks to a well-defined audience and is built around well-defined objectives. You know how to build engagement while keeping it real, and how to measure success.

You are not a subject expert. We’ll help you understand the material and the messages we want you to communicate. You take it from there and grow more comfortable with bringing your own take over time.

Compensation

$30/hour, 20 hours per week. Initial six-month contract will be renewed if you demonstrate success.
