Position: Education Outreach Program Coordinator

Short-term contract Full-Time Position
(College, University, Masters, or doctoral student)

  • Term: May 4 to August 28, 2026
  • Hours: 32 hours per week (Monday-Thurs)
  • Compensation: $22/hour
  • Additional requirements: Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle. Candidates located within a reasonable travel distance of Guelph, Ontario are preferred.

Ontario Organic (formerly the Organic Council of Ontario) is the provincial organization supporting the growth, integrity, and coordination of Ontario’s organic agriculture sector. Our work advances environmentally sustainable farming systems, climate resilience, soil health, biodiversity, and evidence-based decision-making across the organic value chain.

We work with farmers, processors, certifiers, businesses, and partners to strengthen organic systems and support climate-positive agriculture across Ontario.

Position Overview

Ontario Organic is seeking a student currently enrolled in a post-secondary program to support sector initiatives, membership engagement, communications, and events across several projects.

This role will provide coordination and administrative support for sector networks such as the Post-Harvest Organic Sector (PHOS) and Interprovincial Organic Network (ION), assist with membership engagement and outreach, and help coordinate events and farm visits.

The role will also help develop onboarding and welcome materials for organic businesses and may support communications content such as social media, newsletters, and short videos.

This position may be funded through an ECO Canada student wage subsidy program and supports environmentally sustainable agriculture by strengthening collaboration across Ontario’s organic value chain and supporting organic sector initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

Membership & Sector Network Support

  • Support coordination for the Post-Harvest Organic Sector (PHOS) network
  • Assist with coordination of ION sector meetings and activities
  • Maintain contact lists and assist with outreach to processors, handlers, and other organic businesses
  • Support meeting logistics including scheduling, agendas, notes, and follow-up
  • Assist with membership outreach and engagement initiatives
  • Support development of materials highlighting the impact of Ontario Organic’s work
  • Help track membership engagement and support basic marketing or outreach efforts

Environmental Education & Resource Development

  • Assist with development of welcome and onboarding materials for organic businesses and sector partners
  • Support coordination of value chain resources and orientation materials (pending collaboration with certifiers)
  • Assist with drafting social media posts, newsletters, and website updates
  • Support development of short videos, graphics, or communications materials highlighting sector work
  • Help track communications engagement and organize content

Environmental Program Events Support

  • Support planning and coordination for sector events, meetings, and farm tours
  • Assist with event logistics including outreach, participant communication, and follow-up
  • Attend in-person meetings or farm visits to assist with coordination and documentation (note occasional weekend work)

General Program & Administrative Support

  • Assist with scheduling, document preparation, and meeting coordination
  • Support preparation of simple briefing notes, summaries, or internal documents
  • Help with general tasks that support program continuity and reduce administrative workload for staff

Eligibility Requirements (ECO Canada and Canada Summer Jobs)

  • Must be currently enrolled in a recognized post-secondary program (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Field of study related to environmental studies, sustainability, agriculture, food systems, communications, marketing, business, or public administration
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada
  • Must be based in Ontario
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Youth (under 30)

Students with interests in sustainable agriculture, communications, event coordination, food systems, or nonprofit sector work are strongly encouraged to apply.
