Title: Junior Coordinator, Communications (Student Position)

Description
The Bay Area Climate Change Council (BACCC), administratively housed within Mohawk College, is a collective impact initiative that catalyzes climate action in the Hamilton-Burlington “Bay Area”. BACCC aims for our communities to be net zero by 2050 and works to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from the buildings, industry, and transportation sectors, which are the three main sources of emissions in the region. BACCC also works to support and accelerate the low-carbon energy transition.
BACCC seeks an enthusiastic student to join our team as a Junior Coordinator, Communications on a full-time basis for two months (May-June or July-August) this summer. This role is ideal for College or University students looking for a summer position.
Reporting to the BACCC Manager, the successful applicant will assist with a variety of communications activities to advance the work of the collective. Common tasks will include preparing materials for meetings, workshops, or events (e.g. PowerPoint presentations or collaborative meeting tools); translating complex technical information into plain language communications assets; developing content for social media or other web-based communications channels.
Successful applicants will be encouraged to consider in any of their activities how AI might support BACCC in these communications activities. Successful applicants will demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills, excellent organization, and a professional attitude. Successful applicants will be passionate about climate action and the ongoing initiatives necessary to decarbonize our communities.
BACCC is administratively housed at Mohawk College in Hamilton, Ontario. This position may work remotely within the GTHA, with occasional attendance on site for meetings or team-building activities.
