Position Summary
Head Counsellor is responsible for all aspects of the Island Adventure Camp, located on Ward's Island in Toronto. This includes designing curriculum to daily operations, focusing on creating a fun, safe and adventurous experience for campers and staff.
This role involves direct supervision of staff and campers throughout the day, including daily transportation to and from Toronto Island, on-water and land-based activities, and structured educational programming.
Nature of Work
This position involves program development, staff recruitment (with TISUP hiring manager), training, supervision, budget management, marketing, ensuring safety compliance, and handling parent/camper communication. Summer Camp is geared to campers aged (ages 7 to 12 years old).
The summer camp Head Counsellor will act as a leader and work alongside camp staff in providing participants with an educational camp experience.

Will be required to work outside and follow all operating procedures and safety policies of the Toronto Island SUP
Must be available for all 6 weeks of the contract period:
Week 1: July 6-10
Week 2: July 13-17
Week 3: July 20-24
Week 4: July 27-31
Week 5: August 10-14
Week 6: August 17-21
Period of Employment (camp prep): April-June
April-May: 10-15 hours per week, remote
June: 15 hours per week, blend of remote and in-person
Period of Employment (camp): July-August
7:00AM- 5:00PM, Monday-Friday, in-person
Approx 1-2 hours of admin work per day, remote
Approx 5 hours of admin work per weekend to prep for upcoming week, remote
Mandatory paid training period in late May or early June prior to the start of camp programming
Approximately 2 days
Compensation
$19-$24 per hour, based on personal experience.
