Social Media Contract

Position: Social Media Contractor
Organization: Rivershed Society of BC
Location: Fraser Watershed, BC

Contract Term: As early as October 1, 2024 – March 31, 2025 (with potential for extension)
Contract Type: Part-time, hourly contract up to 20 hours/week – 100% remote.
Compensation: $25 to $30/hour depending on experience

The Rivershed Society of BCs mission is to connect, protect, and restore the Fraser's 34 riversheds. We envision a resilient watershed where salmon, people, and economies thrive in rivershed communities. We are seeking a skilled Social Media Contractor to join our team and help amplify our mission through engaging and impactful digital content.

Role Overview:

As our Social Media Contractor, you will play a crucial role in enhancing our online presence. You will work closely with our team to take drafted content and prepare it for social media platforms. This includes adding alt text, sourcing media where needed, and ensuring our posts are accessible and visually appealing. Additionally, you will engage with our online community, fostering connections and conversations that align with our mission. We are open to hiring a skilled individual, business, or experienced freelancer

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare and schedule drafted content for social media, including adding alt text and sourcing appropriate media.
• Engage with our online community, responding to or forwarding comments and messages in a timely and thoughtful manner.
• Monitor social media for relevant news and events and share them with the team.
• Monitor social media trends and adapt content strategies to enhance engagement and reach.
• Collaborate with our team to ensure consistency in messaging and brand voice.

Nice to Have:

• Experience with Canva or similar design tools.
• Skills in capturing and editing video and photo.
• Event experience – tabling and capturing content.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience in social media, preferably in the non-profit or environmental sector.
• Deep understanding of social media platforms, tools, and analytics.
