About Paper Kite Farm

We're a regenerative market garden in Prince Edward County growing nutrient-dense vegetables while building soil health. We specialize in diverse crops from the Asian diaspora - Chinese greens, eggplants, peppers, and root vegetables that connect us to traditional foodways and bring exciting flavours to our community.

On 3/4 acres of no-till permanent beds, we're proving you can grow great food while sequestering carbon and working with nature instead of against it. Our practices blend traditional agricultural wisdom with regenerative techniques - composting systems, water management, season extension, and a whole lot of attention to what the soil is telling us.

We serve our community through weekly farmers' markets, a CSA Farm Card program, restaurant partnerships, and by sharing food sovereignty through cultural events and celebrations that honour the stories behind the seeds we grow.

What You'll Actually Do

Seed, transplant, and tend crops through their growing cycle. Harvest vegetables and prep them for market - occasionally joining us to sell at the market too. Work in our tunnels for season extension. Plant cover crops and manage green manures. The usual beautiful, exhausting, satisfying rhythm of small-scale vegetable farming.

What We Need From You

  • Legally able to work in Canada
  • Can lift 50 lbs repeatedly and work in various weather (hot, cold, rain, sun - we see it all)
  • Detail-oriented and able to follow protocols (farming is surprisingly precise work)
  • Reliable transportation to the farm
  • Ability to maintain steady work pace with the team throughout the season

Previous farming, gardening, or outdoor work experience is definitely an asset but not required.

What Makes You Stand Out

We're excited about folks who bring:

  • Curiosity about regenerative agriculture and no-till methods
  • Interest in soil biology and ecological farming
  • Comfort working both independently and as part of a small team
  • Problem-solving skills (farms throw curveballs daily)
  • Passion for food sovereignty, cultural food traditions, or community food systems

The Team & Vibe

Our crew of 2-3 people works closely together in a supportive but genuinely fast-paced environment. We emphasize continuous learning, open communication, and mutual respect. Regular check-ins ensure everyone's voice is heard. This is a production farm, so keeping consistent work speed with your teammates throughout the season matters for our collective success and sanity.

Housing Option

We have subsidized on-farm housing available - private rooms at below-market rates with shared kitchen, bathroom, utilities, internet, laundry, and communal space. Completely optional, but great if you're relocating to the County for the season.

To Apply

Send your resume and a note (doesn't need to be formal) explaining:

  1. Why regenerative agriculture interests you
  2. Relevant experience you're bringing
  3. What you hope to learn this season
  4. Your longer-term goals in agriculture or food systems
