Positions: Recycling Ninjas Needed For RBC Canadian Open
Company: Green Event Ninjas
Location: Alton/Caledon, GTA, Ontario

About Green Event Ninjas

At Green Event Ninjas, we do not plan events, but rather we help those that do, do so in a more sustainable manner. In other words, we work alongside event producers, planners and suppliers (venues, caterers, etc.) to help them get the most value out of their operations and events by looking at the issues they’re facing through a sustainability lens.

We deliver on this by offering our sustainable event management consulting services, in general, and furthermore by offering specialized services targeting key impact areas, like our green event cleaning and waste management services, event carbon footprints, and event sustainability standards compliance.

Who We Are Looking For

Green Event Ninjas is seeking an eco-conscious and passionate individual to join our team in the role of Recycling Ninja. In this position, you will play a vital role in supporting our green initiatives, working on-event to support our clients to divert waste and deliver sustainable events.

Commitment: Being a ninja means that you are reliable, you show up on time, and you commit to doing the best job you can do while you are on site with us.

Eco-Conscious: You are encouraged to contribute to protecting and preserving the natural environment and are invested in supporting sustainability.

Hard Working: You are not afraid to get your hands dirty and do some heavy lifting (up to 50lbs). You are also able to meet requirements of the role such as bending, prolonged periods of standing, and consolidating and handling large bags of recycling and refuse.

Team Player: You are collaborative, enjoy working with others, and are willing to support your team however you can to ensure that the job gets done!

Outdoor Enthusiast: You enjoy working in the outdoors and are able to work in all conditions, rain or shine.

Role Requirements

DURING EVENT CLEAN-UP: Recycling Ninjas will be picking up loose litter on the ground and working with the Green Event Ninjas team and fellow Recycling Ninjas to clear the venue and vending areas. This task involves bending, consolidating large bags of recycling and refuse, and lifting bags onto push carts, golf carts and trailers.

Recycling Ninjas will also spend a portion of their shift helping to sort the recycling and other waste streams to maximize the event’s total waste diversion from landfill. This task involves prolonged periods of standing, opening bags and sorting their contents, and lifting bags. All appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided (i.e. protective gloves, face masks, safety goggles, etc.).

POST-EVENT CLEAN-UP: Recycling Ninjas will work with the Green Event Ninjas team members and fellow Recycling Ninjas to clear the venue and vending areas of all event litter and patron debris. This position entails walking, bending, lifting and handling event waste and recycling.
