Stonehammer Geopark is a 2500km region in Southern New Brunswick with a geologic history going back 1 billion years! Stonehammer strives to showcase connections between our natural history to the diverse perspectives and experiences of our people and communities.

About the position

The Educational Interpreter develops and facilitates projects and initiatives that advance education, accessibility, and appreciation of Stonehammer geopark and its geosites. The interpreter maintains this responsibility through administrative tasks, partnership management, community engagement and outreach, and interpretation through storytelling.

Key responsibilities

• Support and deliver public education and interpretive tours onboard Bay Ferries
• Assist with the delivery of the Amazing Places program and provide information on the regional wayfinding Driftscape
• Communicate with the public about tide times and the ecology and geology of the Bay of Fundy and St Martins Sea Caves
• Assist in other public engagement events and projects (i.e. information booths at regional festivals)
• Collaborate with and support the Visitor Information Centre staff in Fundy-St Martins and Fundy Albert
• Support development and delivery of ecotourism programming in collaboration with other organizations in the community
• Support project managers on report and grant writing
• Facilitate content creation for Social Media

Qualifications

• Must be a student with education focusing on Heritage/History, Tourism, Biology, Geology, and other relevant sectors.
• Bilingual as an asset.
• 2+ years of relevant work experience.
• Knowledge of landscape or marine conservation mechanisms, targets, and issues.
• Experience coordinating projects including, planning, execution, and reporting.
• Ability to prioritize key objectives.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with Google Workspace, Canva, and other platforms

Work term and rate

• 12-week Summer contract
• The pay scale is 17$/hr based on a 35 hour work week.

L’interprète en éducation développe et anime des projets et des initiatives visant à promouvoir l’éducation, l’accessibilité et l’appréciation du géoparc Stonehammer et de ses géosites. Il ou elle assume ces responsabilités par le biais de tâches administratives, de la gestion de partenariats, de l’engagement communautaire et des activités de sensibilisation, ainsi que de l’interprétation par le récit et la mise en valeur du patrimoine.

• Participer à d’autres événements et projets d’engagement du public (ex. : kiosques d’information lors de festivals régionaux)
• Collaborer avec le personnel des centres d’information aux visiteurs de Fundy–St. Martins et Fundy Albert et leur offrir du soutien
• Contribuer à l’élaboration et à la prestation de programmes d’écotourisme en collaboration avec les organismes communautaires
• Appuyer les gestionnaires de projets dans la rédaction de rapports et de demandes de subvention
• Participer à la création de contenu pour les médias sociaux

Qualifications

• Être étudiant(e) dans un domaine lié au patrimoine/histoire, au tourisme, à la biologie, à la géologie ou à d’autres secteurs pertinents
• Le bilinguisme est un atout
• Minimum de deux (2) années d’expérience pertinente
• Connaissance des mécanismes, des objectifs et des enjeux liés à la conservation des paysages et des milieux marins
• Expérience en coordination de projets, incluant la planification, la mise en œuvre et la production de rapports
• Capacité à prioriser les objectifs clés
• Excellentes compétences organisationnelles
• Capacité à travailler de façon autonome et en équipe
• Connaissance de Google Workspace, Canva et d’autres plateformes

Durée du contrat et rémunération

• Contrat d’été de 12 semaines
• Taux horaire de 17 $/heure, basé sur une semaine de travail de 35 heures
