Position: Project Manager – Clean Fuels (Halifax/Hybrid)

Position Overview

Net Zero Atlantic (NZA) is leading research to enable the production and adoption of low-carbon fuels in Atlantic Canada.

This role is for someone who wants to leverage their existing experience in clean fuels and project management to contribute to impactful, applied research that supports energy system change in the region.

As a Project Manager working in clean fuels, you will step into active projects and collaborate with government, industry, and academic partners. You will also build your professional network while contributing to applied research and initiatives that support Atlantic Canada’s clean energy transition. This role is well suited to someone who brings experience, initiative, and a desire to be part of meaningful change in an evolving sector.

Net Zero Atlantic is an independent, non-profit, energy-research organization dedicated to advancing Atlantic Canada’s transition to a net-zero energy future. We are a hybrid organization, headquartered in Halifax with staff in five locations across Canada. We lead applied research that turns complex questions into practical insight, working collaboratively with universities, governments, industry, Indigenous partners, and community organizations. About the Opportunity

This is a permanent, full time, hybrid role based in Halifax. The successful candidate will be expected to work a mix of remote and in office days, report to a Director of Research, and be responsible for:

  • Project management activities from proposal development through execution, including project charters, financial tracking and reporting, schedule monitoring, and communicating results.
  • Building and enhancing NZA’s reputation as a trusted and unbiased research organization through collaboration and communication with stakeholders.
  • Supporting the identification and development of new project opportunities and partnerships.
  • Preparing funding applications and contributing to proposals that advance NZA’s applied research mandate.
  • Representing Net Zero Atlantic at meetings, events, and conferences, and engaging effectively with government, industry, and academic partners.
  • Administering third party research activities, including RFP development, coordination of consultant selection, contract preparation, and oversight of technical work.

Your Qualifications Include:

  • Post secondary education in engineering, science, business, or finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2–5 years of progressive experience in project management, engineering, or business management, with the ability to step into active work with minimal ramp up time.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing projects from proposal development to execution.
  • Proven ability to manage project financials, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
  • Experience facilitating discussions and meetings with multi disciplinary and collaborative teams.
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully within diverse, collaborative teams and contribute positively to an inclusive workplace culture.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and organizational skills, with the ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment and autonomy.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s licence.
  • Knowledge of clean fuels and their role in the transition to net zero is an asset.
