Position: Program Manager
Organization: WECAN Food Basket Society of Alberta
Location: Candidates must be local to Edmonton area. This is a hybrid position.
Hours: part time (20 hours per week)

WECAN Food Basket Society is seeking a program manager.

WECAN provides its members with opportunities to buy healthy and affordable food baskets once per month with pick up at local volunteer run community depots.

Job Duties include:

  • Managing relationships with suppliers, including coordinating monthly orders and reviewing monthly price lists.
  • Volunteer recruitment, engagement, supervision, and training.
  • Outreach activities to establish community relationships, new community depots, and strategic partnerships.
  • Financial management, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Staff supervision and development.
  • Policy and procedure development and review, including developing Occupational Health and Safety policies and organizational culture.
  • Working closely with the Board of Directors.
  • Implementation of WECAN’s strategic plan.
  • Problem solving member, volunteer, or program concerns.
  • Management of operations and IT duties including Microsoft Admin, license renewal, account management, and troubleshooting.
  • Operational data management including demographics, program outputs, and surveys.
  • On site visits of current and potential depot locations around Edmonton and surrounding areas.
  • On distribution days, there may be a requirement to stand for extended periods of time, lift heavy objects, and do repetitive tasks.

This position is part time (20 hours per week) and is intended to fill a temporary vacancy from December 2025 to June 2027. The salary range for this position is between $25 to $28 per hour. Successful candidates must be able to work from our Edmonton office at least one day per week.

Job Requirements include:

  • Passion for WECAN’s vision and mission and the cause of food security.
  • Proficient in using computer technology, including Microsoft products. Experience in website maintenance or CiviCRM is an asset.
  • Food safety certification and experience in OH&S is an asset.
  • Access to reliable transportation
  • Cell phone (monthly allowance)
