About TAF’s Program Manager, Home Solar Accelerator

TAF is hiring an experienced Program Manager to lead our efforts to scale distributed solar and storage adoption across the GTHA. This is a unique opportunity to drive clean energy transformation in urban communities by making solar and storage more accessible, affordable, and impactful.

We’re looking for a strategic doer who thrives on implementation, iteration, and collaboration. Reporting to TAF's Director of Clean Electrification, you’ll lead delivery of TAF’s residential solar and storage program, while working collaboratively to shape future initiatives to overcome market and policy barriers.

What you’ll do:

Program Launch, Delivery & Oversight

• Launch TAF's Home Solar Accelerator program with partners
• Lead and support tasks and projects from start to finish, including overall program management to ensure strong delivery and coordination of partner activities
• Contribute to program design, stakeholder engagement, and fundraising
• Oversee all program procurement, contracts, compliance, data and information management and documentation
• Manage program budgets, payables, and receivables in partnership with the Finance team
• Collaborate with colleagues across TAF’s teams and external partners (e.g. local utilities, municipalities, community groups, service providers, industry contacts, etc.) for smooth program delivery

Evaluation, Reporting & Continuous Improvement

• Lead data collection and program tracking, including from partners, to measure program impact and progress to targets
• Ensure timely, high-quality reporting to all stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to streamline operations, enhance user experience and improve program outcomes
• Identify regulatory and process barriers for municipalities and utilities, and contribute to policy and program recommendations

Stakeholder Engagement & Outreach

• Build and manage strong relationships with utilities, municipalities, developers, installers, and other stakeholders.
• Identify and seize opportunities to expand adoption across the GTHA to support overall solar market development
• Represent TAF’s solar and storage efforts and promote the program across the GTHA through various forms of communication and outreach, including conferences and industry working groups.
• Facilitate knowledge-sharing and capacity-building to support solar market development with stakeholders and partners.

Organizational Excellence

• Bring subject matter insights to internal working groups and strategic initiatives
• Contribute to TAF’s team culture of collaboration and innovation.
• Participate in planning, development, and professional growth initiatives.
• Represent TAF in meetings and other external engagements, fostering strong relationships.

Knowledge, skills and abilities we’re looking for:

Skills:

Essential to have:

• Program & Project Management: Proven ability to plan, execute, and monitor programs and/or projects, develop and manage budgets, and maintain accurate documentation and information management systems.
• Communication & Collaboration: Able to communicate clearly, and in various forms, to ensure understanding, respond patiently to inquiries, and work well with internal teams and external partners.
• Problem-Solving & Adaptability: Organized and resourceful, able to balance multiple tasks, troubleshoot challenges, and suggest improvements to processes.
• Administrative Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, SalesForce, project management tools, communications plans, procurement/purchasing, managing data and information, and financial reporting and budgeting.
• Mobility: Ability to travel throughout the GTHA as needed (vehicle not required).

Helpful to have:

• Knowledge Base: Experience with solar and storage technology and installation, distributed energy systems, electricity markets, and utilities.

Experience & Qualifications:

• Education: Post secondary degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g. engineering, project management, or business) or equivalent work experience.
• Work Experience: At least five years’ progressive experience in program design and/or management, preferably in clean energy or utility programs.

What we offer:

The starting annual salary range for this role is $85,000 to $90,000. We use an established pay grid and follow a consistent an equitable approach to compensation to ensure fairness across our team and equal pay for equal work. Candidates whose experience and qualifications exceed the listed requirements may be offered a starting salary at the higher end of the posted range.

Beyond salary, TAF offers rewards that support your well-being and success:

• Other cash compensation

  • Contract completion payment based on a percentage of total compensation, paid upon successful completion of the full contract term.

  • Home office setup support up to $500.

  • $1,040 stipend (paid biweekly in installments of $40) to support cellphone and internet expenses.

• Paid time off:

  • 15 vacation days per year.

  • Up to 15 personal leave days per year for your well-being, including physical and mental health, family responsibilities, cultural observances, and important appointments.

  • TAF-wide office closures on 14 City-designated and statutory holidays (includes Easter Monday, National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, and Remembrance Day), plus a winter break between Boxing Day and New Years’ Day (3 business days).
