Position: Weekend Nature School Educator
School: Toronto Nature School
Location: Toronto ON (Queen E / Beaches)

Start Date: Saturday, September 14th
Times: 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
Fall session: Saturdays:  September 14th – November 30th
Winter Session: Saturdays: January 18th– March 8
Spring Session: Saturday, April 5- June 21
Additional opportunities: Saturday afternoon birthday parties, PA day Camps, Winter Holiday camps, March Break Camps and Full Time Summer Camp instructor positions 2025, occasional teaching
Compensation: $18-$22/Hr

– Helping to facilitate plan activities that engages children from ages 4-10
– Work with Lead Teachers to ensure that programs are age appropriate and inclusive of all learners and participants
– Ensure that participants are having a fun, safe, and engaging high quality learning experience
– Be comfortable around water, beach. Monitor children vigilantly.
– Take direction from the lead instructor and share ideas
– Supervise and ensure children are being safe and supported at all times during their program
– Ensure that students are on time for pick up
– Follow Health and Safety protocols and procedures

– Clean up after activities ensuring that the learning and playing areas are clean, organized-and safe to ensure the Health & Safety of all participants.
– Maintain the safety of children, understanding sun/ snow safety.
– Engage in play based and developmentally appropriate programming for all
– Collaborate with other staff to share ideas.
– Assess risks and risk management of sites and children, perform a site check upon arrival
– Ensure first aid kits and contact information are properly handle and stored.
– Encourage community culture
– Familiarize yourself with the school philosophies and forms.
– Set up and clean up at the beginning and end of classes
– Other duties as required


– Teaching Qualifications / Graduate or currently enrolled with an ECE/ Education Program/ Forest School Practitioners course is an asset
– Extensive Experience working with children
– Love for the outdoors
– Current First Aid and CPR with level C ( or intention to get over the next 6 months)
– Police Vulnerable Sectors Check ( or declaration and intent to get in the next few months)
– Well-developed interpersonal, and relationship building skills; ability to establish rapport and excellent communication skills with parents/ guardians, children and staff
– Experience and sensitivity in dealing with members of all cultural and racial backgrounds, including visible and non-visible dimensions of diversity.
– Physically capable of working in all weather conditions, carrying a backpack, carrying learning materials.
– Ability to walk for long periods on uneven terrain.
– Understand play based learning, outdoor learning and principles of risky play.
