Position: Wildlife Management Officer & Educator
Employer: The Raptors
Location: Vancouver, BC

The Raptors is hiring for a Wildlife Management Officer & Educator based out of Vancouver, BC.

This position would be based at a variety of sites in the Lower Mainland area, including significant time at a landfill, using trained raptors to mitigate environmental and safety hazards and raising awareness for conservation through education with the public. For background on our work, visit our website (the-raptors.com). This position may involve seasonal or contract-based shifts of the primary work location.

An ideal candidate would have:

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License (Required)
  • Experience working outdoors, performing field work, or other biology/conservation related work experience
  • Adaptability to a variety of work and tasks
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work with a team, as well as be self-directed at times
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Passion for and experience with animals, especially birds
  • Passion for conservation and the environment
  • Public speaking and/or education experience
  • Willingness to travel throughout the Lower Mainland area

An exceptional candidate would also possess:

  • First aid skills
  • Raptor handling/animal training experience
  • Willingness to travel outside the Lower Mainland area
  • Excellent customer service skills

This is a full-time, 4-6 month contract, with potential for advancement into a permanent position. Due to the location of the work, applicants must have access to a vehicle or other means of reliable transportation. Public transportation does not reliably service the majority of our worksites.
