About the B.C. Wildlife Federation
The B.C. Wildlife Federation (BCWF) is British Columbia’s leading conservation organization. As a province-wide member-driven charitable organization with over 43,000 members and more than 100 fish and wildlife clubs.
The BCWF is accepting applications for (2) Educators. Educators will lead the Gently Down the Seymour (GDS) program, facilitated with the Seymour Salmonid Society, as well as Wild Kidz and Go Wild camps under the Education and Volunteer Engagement (EVE) department. Our team strives to foster an inclusive team culture that takes responsibility when engaging with outdoor spaces. Our programming increases learning opportunities for youth across BC towards sustainable food harvest, outdoor sports, and conservation-focused careers.
During the spring and fall, Educators will lead the Gently Down the Seymour program (35 hours/week) at the Seymour River Hatchery in North Vancouver. Educators will work only on days when field trips are scheduled, following the regular school calendar. As a result, there will be two unpaid weeks during spring break (March 16–27).
During July-August, Educators will travel with the Youth Programs staff team to run four summer day camps and one overnight camp. Our Wild Kidz day camps for ages 8-12 take place in communities across the province (50 hours/week). Our Go Wild 7-day overnight camp for ages 13-17 takes place at Silver Lake Forest Centre in Peachland ($220.00/day). During camp weeks, the BCWF will provide camp lodging*, transportation, and meals. To support a workforce that reflects diversity, we encourage women, Indigenous Peoples, racialized individuals, persons of diverse sexual orientation, gender identity or expression (2SLGBTQIA+), and persons with disabilities to apply. *A combination of tent camping and cabins.
