Organic farming / L'agriculture biologique

Position: Market gardener
Farm: La pelletée

Location: Saint-Marcel-de-Richelieu, Quebec
Housing: On-farm accommodation
Dates: April-Nov. –or– May-Sep. (see below)

La Pelletée is a small-scale diversified organic vegetable farm. We cultivate a wide range of crops across greenhouses, bio-intensive gardens, and semi-mechanized fields, with a strong emphasis on teamwork, sustainability, soil health, and efficient workflows. Our produce is marketed through a 150-member CSA program as well as to a dozen restaurants committed to high-quality, locally sourced ingredients.

We are seeking a Market Gardener to join our crew for the 2026 growing season.

The Market Gardener participates in all day-to-day operations of the farm. The work is varied, hands-on, and dynamic. It takes place within a structured team environment where coordination, communication, and timing are essential to keeping operations running smoothly.

You will work closely with a small team of 6 to 8 people to carry out the full production cycle — from seedling propagation to field work to harvest — ensuring that each step contributes to high-quality yields and an efficient overall workflow.

This role offers a unique opportunity to learn in-depth about our hybrid production system, from greenhouse management to bio-intensive gardening and semi-mechanized field cultivation.

  • Harvesting vegetables efficiently and with care
  • Washing, sorting, bunching, and packing for deliveries and retail
  • Ensuring quality standards and product presentation

  • Participating in weekly work-planning
  • Basic maintenance of tools and infrastructure
  • Occasional help with deliveries or market preparation
