Position: Organic/ Regenerative Farm Internship
Farm: Golden Tree Farm

Golden Tree Farm, is an organic, regenrative family farm the south rim of St. Mary Lake, Salt Spring Island B.C.
We steward a vibrant mixed farm with organic fruit, including mixed berries and a 12 acre pome-fruit orchard,as well as an acre in figs.

We husband hogs, and chicken. We maintain a large organic garden with flower and tea herb prodcution. We grow organic hay for fodder for a local meat farmer, and are considering expanding our ecosysyetm to include organic beef production within the next few years.
We also steward wetlands, bio-diverse landscapes and grow out native tree that we plant each fall to expand the diversity of the forests that surround us. Our farm hosts a small community of folks, some who work as part of our team. We have run scusessful internship programs for over 20 years, and have offered powerful experiences to a diversity of individuals.
Our farm uses only regenrative practices including: minimal soil tillage, natural animal husbandry, animal roation for soil fertility, we practice permaculture pricipals on large scale land managemnt models, we grow out many of our own seed varieties. Furthermore, our farm was B.C. first fully solar powered farm with an array of over 120 panels. We catch all our own water in large irrigation ponds connected by berms, swales and ditches.

The work will change seasonally, but will include; organic orchard and berry production, animal husbandry from birth to harvest, intesive vegetable, flower and herb prodcution, plant propgation, tree planting, landscape managment, if you have carpenty or irrigation experience then you will be offered opportunities to use those. There will also be full days of weedwacking, mowing, weeding, blackberry irradicfication, and long days of sweet- summer harvest. You will work as part of a team, and some days will be on your own. You will be working with farmers and permaculture teachers who have, collectivley, over 6 decades of experience. There is a lot to glean form being part of our team.
In exchange for 3 days of work, at 7 hours a day (84 hours a month,) we are offering:
This works out to be $20/hour in exchange. As well as the bonus of farm fresh produce.

Details:
March 15 - October 15, 2026.
84 hours a month- work days are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday.
The location includes parking, or power to electrify an e-bike.
The locationof our farm is on the main road, with acess to bike paths, bus route, 7 minutes drive to town, 5 minute drive to multiple lake and ocean swimming beaches.
