QUEST Canada is seeking a visionary and action-oriented Senior Lead, Community Energy Planning & Projects to support New Brunswick communities in reaching their net-zero goals. This role goes beyond project oversight—it’s about driving strategic growth, building strong partnerships, and placing community leadership at the heart of Canada’s sustainable energy future.

As Senior Lead, you will guide the development of Community Energy and Emissions Plans across New Brunswick. You will ensure efficient project delivery, integrate Indigenous and non-Indigenous perspectives, address diverse community needs, and maintain professionalism with funders, volunteers, clients, subscribers, and partners. Key responsibilities include leading design and scale-up, co-developing the funding strategy with QUEST’s Manager, Strategic Growth & Communications, and overseeing on-the-ground program delivery with a focus on respect, collaboration, and Indigenous ways of knowing.

Reporting to the Director, Operations, you will work cross-functionally to embed diverse community perspectives across QUEST Canada’s programs while creating new opportunities for engagement and equity in the energy transition. This leadership role is ideal for someone who combines big-picture vision with hands-on execution and relationship-building rooted in trust.

Functions and Responsibilities

The Senior Lead, Community Energy Planning & Projects is expected to undertake the following functions and responsibilities, as well as other activities as requested by their Supervisor:

1. Program Management

• Develop and implement governance documents such as work plans, program charters, partner agreements, terms of reference, and evaluation plans.
• Develop, manage, and track assigned budgets and timelines for NB CCF 2 and broader community energy planning initiatives. Work in close collaboration with the Manager, Net Zero Communities & Project Implementation to ensure seamless integration of community energy planning efforts under the Net Zero Communities Accelerator (NCA).
• Build and manage program delivery partnerships, supporting cross-training and internal capacity building.
• Support the Senior Lead, Policy to expand the Energy Transition Policy Program in Ontario.
• Work with the Communications and Marketing team to continuously promote and grow the program.

2. Program & Project Delivery

• Lead or support workshops and customized services, including energy assessments, emissions inventories, and community energy planning.
• Supervise project leads, providing coaching, training, and capacity-building support.
• Use QUEST Canada’s project management tool to track project milestones, reporting requirements, and deliverables.
• Work with Communications and marketing to continuously promote CEP projects
• Support Senior Lead, Communications and Marketing and/or Manager, Strategic Growth & Communications to maintain stakeholder engagement through newsletters, policy briefings, and other communications to support QUEST Canada activities.
• Conduct program evaluations, recommend improvements, and ensure continuous enhancement of service delivery.
• Solve challenges, manage crises, and conduct research to develop business cases, reports, and policy recommendations.

3. Operations

• Supervise community energy planning staff, ensuring alignment with community-driven priorities and QUEST’s strategic goals.
• Supervise consultants, and partners, managing agreements, contracts, financial reporting, and compliance with policies.
• Support QUEST Canada’s strategic growth and expansion, positioning programs for long-term success.
• Support the Senior Management Team regarding corporate operations, including monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and utilization reporting, partner agreements, contract management and other tasks as needed.
• Represent QUEST at conferences, events, and external committees to strengthen partnerships and enhance program visibility.
• Maintain and utilize QUEST’s customer relationship management system for stakeholder coordination and reporting.
• Curate and share relevant contacts, reports, policies, and publications with internal and external stakeholders.

Ideal candidates must:

• Demonstrate strong entrepreneurial and leadership skills, with a proven track record of successfully scaling and delivering complex, multi-year programs within a non-profit or charitable organization.
• Show experience in securing and stewarding funding, ideally through collaborative development of funding proposals, relationship management, and strategic partnership building.
• Preferably, based in NB.

Other Required Qualifications & Experience

• Project management & project delivery.
• Experience working with Indigenous and non-indigenous communities, organizations, and leadership, with problem-solving, decision-making, and relationship-building skills.
• Energy sector familiarity with expertise in downstream energy systems.
• Experience working with diverse community and organizational groups.
• External relationship stewardship & management.
• Excellent time management, organization and prioritization skills.
• Strong communication abilities (listening, speaking, writing).
• Collaborative and inclusive.
• Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally to align program outcomes with organizational goals and community expectations.
• Ability to work autonomously and manage workload in a remote, asynchronous team environment.

Desirable Qualifications

• Workshop design and facilitation experience
• Proposal writing
• Budget management
• Fully bilingual in French and English
• Understanding of justice and anti-oppression frameworks
• Experience taking pilot programs to scale within community, governmental, or non-profit settings.

Travel
Ability to travel within Canada.

Compensation & Benefits

• Full-time position
• Salary range is $71,007.30 - $89,578.44, commensurate with experience
