Position: Nature Kindergarten Teacher
School: Wildhearts: PEC Nature School
Location: near Picton, Prince Edward County, Ontario

Our ideal candidate has Waldorf early childhood teacher education and/or prior teaching experience. We seek a candidate who is committed to the values of Waldorf education, someone who is joyful and warm with strong interpersonal communication skills and enthusiasm for teaching and learning. We are dedicated to educating the whole child through a nature-based, artistic, developmentally-aware and inclusive approach. We seek an educator who shares these goals and who is dedicated to the healthy development of each child.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

The ideal candidate will have passion for holistic, nature-based education. Our Nature Kindergarten is a Waldorf-inspired, play and place-based educational program for ages 4-6 years. The program is designed to support the development of the whole child through nature immersion, child-inspired emergent learning, an inquiry-based teaching style, imaginative play and creative and artistic experiences.

In addition, the following qualities would be required:

• One of the following: ECE certification, Waldorf teacher certificate, or Bachelor of Education (Ontario) **For the right candidate, there is an opportunity to work while completing the part-time Waldorf Teacher Certification program
• A strong interest and experience in developing outdoor learning experiences. Modeling a positive attitude while supporting children outdoors. A background in Forest School education is an asset.
• Current police check, vulnerable sector check
• Current standard First Aid certification
• Be flexible and adaptable to new situations
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with children, colleagues and parents
• Ability to create a warm and gentle environment for young children
• Musical and artistic abilities are an asset (ie - storytelling, puppetry, circle work, handwork etc.)

• Compensation determined based on qualifications and experience.
• Position for 2024/25 school year

ABOUT US:

Wildhearts: A Prince Edward County Nature School, established in 2022, offers full time and part time programs for students from Kindergarten to Grade 6. We are located on Edwin County Farms, a 700-acre organically-managed, regenerative farm in the northern part of Prince Edward County, Ontario.

Programming runs Monday-Friday from 9am-3pm, with extended after-school care available.
