Job Opportunity: Relationships & Outreach Coordinator
Organization: Nature-Based Solutions Foundation

  • Location: Anywhere in Canada (working remotely, periodic shared space available in Vancouver and Victoria).
  • Full-time: Estimated 40 hours/week, flexible work schedule, compensated monthly, starting $58k-$62k/annum (based on experience).

Nature-Based Solutions Foundation (NBSF)

Founded by some of western Canada’s most experienced conservationists, NBSF is a young and growing national organization on a mission to protect the most endangered ecosystems in Canada. Our core focus is to co-create new protected areas by working with communities and supporting their  transitions to conservation-based economies so that nature is worth more standing.

Position overview

The Nature-Based Solutions Foundation is seeking a dynamic individual who loves engaging with people and understanding what makes them tick. With a deep-rooted passion for nature, this person excels in creating compelling and accurate environmental communications and persuasive writing materials, capable of supporting a diversity of communications needs across various mediums—from presentations and pitch decks to emails, articles, meetings, and social media posts. This role will be heavily focused on raising funds. The successful candidate must have an ability to maintain strong, positive relationships with funders, supporters, and partners through creating carefully tailored outreach and being responsive to their needs. It is therefore an asset to possess a talent for understanding the motivations and needs of different types of people and groups. 

The ideal candidate must possess exceptional time management skills and be capable of prioritizing tasks effectively against tight deadlines and/or priorities. The ideal candidate is also a natural collaborator and can be proactive in contributing ideas and seeking feedback from their team.

Skills and experience:

  • Strong understanding of ecosystems and conservation issues
  • Demonstrated commitment to protecting nature
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional people skills
  • Fundraising experience
  • Experience developing a diversity of communications/marketing materials
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, accurate, flexible, and reliable
  • Work and/or volunteer experience with environmental organization(s)

Responsibilities:

  • With the help of databases and software, research and monitor leads (potential funders, supporters, and partners) to identify and record businesses, organizations, and/or philanthropists who are aligned with NBSF’s mission and work.
  • Draft tailored communications for identified prospects with the goal of scheduling meetings/calls for the National Programs Manager.
  • Send follow-ups when necessary.
  • Maintain detailed and up-to-date information on prospects.
  • Proactively respond to any messages from prospects.
  • Assist with drafting, editing, and sending communications materials to current funders and/or partners, and help address responses.
  • Maintain relationships with existing supporters and/or partners, and send regular updates.
  • Assist with creating and sending formal agreements with sponsors and partners.
  • Assist with drafting marketing materials, such as articles and social media.
  • Support grant writing, events logistics and administration, and emergent tasks and priorities as requested.
