Hiring an experienced Gardener

• Most job sites are in Toronto
• Owner endeavours to create a relaxed work environment where your opinions & ideas are respected.
• You’ll be gardening part of a small team and sometimes alone.
• We garden using native pollinator plants as much as possible, no fossil fuel powered tools, no chemical pesticides.
• Work starts in mid-April and goes till December ~ we're flexible with our schedule ~ very accommodating to part-time hours - our average work days are Monday through Thursday starting at 7:30 am and finishing around 3pm
• Having a vehicle is very helpful ~ sometimes we're in Etobicoke, North York, sometimes in the Beaches ~ work can be all over
• This is a self-employed job

JOB DESCRIPTION

• General gardening including but not limited to: Planting, treating plant disease, pruning, dead-heading, trimming, arranging planters etc
• Working outdoors in rain or hot weather.
• Will need to transport yourself to job sites
• Salary between $22 - $35 based on experience

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Planting, pruning, and fertilizing trees, plants, and flowers
• Operating and maintaining gardening equipment and machinery such as pruners, trimmers and leaf blowers
• Designing and planning garden layouts and plantings based on aesthetics, sunlight, and seasonal changes
• Identifying and treating plant diseases and pests
• Performing regular soil testing and amending soil as needed
• Maintaining a clean and safe work environment, including removal of fallen leaves and debris
• Advising clients on plant and flower maintenance and care
• Excellent knowledge of plants, including native plants
• Strong, fit and energetic
• Reliability & punctuality is mandatory
• Climbing a ladder on occasion may be required
• Horticulture, Landscape, ecology education an asset
• Must be a lover of gardening, healthy soil and the environment
