Position Summary:
As a BUFCO Landscape Technician, you will support the Landscape Lead Hand/Carpenter in the installation of raised garden beds and other landscaping projects. You are a hard-working, capable individual, who loves physical work, the outdoors, and working cooperatively with other like-minded team members. Responsibilities:

  • Work in the field under the direction of the Landscape Lead Hand/Carpenter in the assembly and installation of BUFCO designed raised garden beds.
  • Under the direction of the Landscape Lead Hand/Carpenter, work on landscaping projects including but not limited to establishing in-ground gardens, fences, wood decks and patios, small stone-work installations (interlocking, pavers, and natural stone).
  • Install various types of garden accessories such as trellises, critter barrier kits, and simple drip irrigation systems.
  • Communicate with clients while in the field when the Landscape Lead Hand/Carpenter is not available.
  • Provide top quality service by maintaining BUFCO’s high standards.
  • Organize and maintain the installation vehicle.
  • Assist with tool maintenance and supplies inventory.
  • Keep BUFCO facilities and work sites safe, tidy, organized, accessible, and in good working order.
  • May have the opportunity to water and tend to plants, lawns and/or gardens on occasion.

Experience:

  • Minimum one-year experience with landscaping, including grading/leveling, laying/removing turf/sod, fence and deck construction, and some experience with smaller stonework installations (interlocking, pavers, natural stone).
  • Basic carpentry skills with some experience using tools and machinery ranging from table saws, sliding miter saws, reciprocating saws, circular saws, drills, hand-held power-planer, as well as a wide variety of handheld and power tools specific to landscaping.
  • Practical, hands-on experience, or are excited to learn about heavy machinery such as a skid steer/Bobcat, forklift, and mini-excavator, and various attachments including material moving scoops, forks, and augers. Training can be made available through the Company.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • A valid G-class license and clean driving record is required.
  • First Aid and Health and Safety training is beneficial.
  • Able to operate a variety of vehicles safely and with confidence, including towing trailers.
  • Confident working with a variety of gardening, landscaping, and woodworking power and hand tools.
  • Intermediate to advance knowledge of technology and smart phone savvy.
  • Experience with Google Suite (Drive, Sheets, Docs, Calendar, Maps) is a plus.

  • Highly reliable and punctual.
  • Organized with great attention to detail.
  • Able to follow instructions as given by the Lead Hand, Installation Manager and Company Owners.
  • Able to work cooperatively in a team environment, as well independently.
  • Able to take initiative and pursue self-directed tasks. You know how to fill your time.
  • Passionate about growing food and urban agriculture.
  • Plant care, knowledge and identification is beneficial.

  • This position may be eligible for the Horticultural Technician 441C Apprenticeship Program.

Compensation: $26-$29/hr
