Project Manager – Farmers Helping Farmers (On Going Project in Kenya)

Position: Project Manager
Organization: Farmers Helping Farmers
Location: Remote (Prince Edward Island) with periodic travel to Kenya

Start date: January 2, 2026
Compensation: $4,400/month for 11 days/month

Farmers Helping Farmers (FHF) is a non-profit organization seeking a Project Manager to lead an ongoing One Health project with an international partner funded by Global Affairs Canada. This initiative focuses on improving health, food security, environmental and economic well-being for communities in Meru County, Kenya through integrated One Health, gender-responsive, and climate-smart approaches.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project Planning & Oversight: Develop, implement, and monitor Annual Work Plans (AWP) aligned with the Project Implementation Plan.
  • Financial & Administrative Management: Implement sound financial controls; review and approve staff expenses and fund requests.
  • Team Leadership: Supervise and support Kenyan project staff; ensure accountability and timely reporting.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with international partner project staff, Kenyan partners (schools, dairy groups, women’s groups), and FHF committees.
  • Monitoring & Evaluation: Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Communications: Prepare project updates for newsletters and social media; keep minutes of project committee meetings.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Project Management, International Development, Agriculture, Public Health, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing international development projects.
  • Strong skills in budget management, monitoring & evaluation, and team leadership.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience working in cross-cultural settings; knowledge of gender-responsive and One Health approaches is an asset.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools.
  • Willingness to travel to Kenya periodically.
  • Hold or acquire a Canadian passport.
  • Resident of PEI (full time preferred, but seasonal residents may be considered).
  • International travel experience an asset
  • Dependable internet connection.
