Organic Gardening / Gardener Jobs

Position: Landscape Maintenance Team Lead /Head Gardener - High End Residential
Company: Gardenfever Design Inc
Location: Vancouver, BC

We are a boutique garden design and maintenance firm dedicated to crafting and caring for some of Vancouver’s most exquisite private gardens.

With years of experience in high-end residential landscapes, we take pride in our thoughtful approach, attention to detail, and commitment to organic practices. Our clients treasure their outdoor spaces, and we are looking for an experienced horticultural professional to take a leading role in a small, high-end garden design and maintenance studio. Check out what we do here: gardenfever.ca

The role

You’ll lead the day-to-day maintenance of our client gardens, setting standards, guiding the team, and making good decisions on site. The role combines practical gardening, people management, client communication, and applied design input for existing gardens.

You’ll be trusted to run your day, solve problems calmly, and keep both gardens and people moving in the right direction.

What you’ll be doing

  • Leading and mentoring a small and friendly maintenance team
  • Setting daily priorities and maintaining high horticultural standards
  • Pruning shrubs, hedges, and small trees with care and confidence
  • Training junior staff in plant care, pruning, and finishing
  • Managing weekly schedules and adapting plans as conditions change
  • Communicating with our lovely clients about their gardens and timing
  • Designing and installing seasonal containers
  • Proposing plant selections for small garden improvements
  • Selecting and organising spring bulb orders
  • Supporting planting and installation projects
  • Keeping vehicles, tools, and sites organised, safe, and presentable

You’ll suit this role if you:

  • Have solid experience in professional garden maintenance and team leadership
  • Understand plants: pruning, plant health, seasonal care, soil and water
  • Enjoy mentoring and bringing others up with you
  • Care about finish, detail, and presentation
  • Are organised, reliable, and calm under pressure
  • Communicate clearly and comfortably with clients
  • Are physically fit and happy working outdoors year-round
  • Hold a valid BC driver’s licence
  • Are legally entitled to work in Canada until at least December 2027

Why work with us

  • A company that values skill, judgement, and integrity
  • Interesting, well-designed private gardens in lovely locations
  • Competitive pay as well as medical & dental benefits
  • Real input into how gardens evolve over time
  • A senior role with trust and responsibility, not micromanagement
  • An inclusive work environment where your input is recognized and valued
  • We do a lot of different things so there's quite a bit of variety to our days
  • Locations: mostly Vancouver West Side including Kitsilano, Point Grey, Dunbar, Kerrisdale, Southlands

We do not cut lawns or large hedges, we don't install paving or other hardscaping materials

We practice organic gardening and use battery powered equipment for a quiet, fume-free environment.

If you’re an experienced gardener who genuinely enjoys the work, we’d love to hear from you!
