Gallery Associate - Full-Time (Year-Round or Seasonal)

We’re looking for someone special to join the team at Crystal Cabin Gallery — someone who cares about supporting local artists, celebrating Haida Gwaii’s creative identity, and creating a welcoming experience for every visitor. 

What You’ll Be Doing: This role supports the day-to-day operations of the gallery and assists with marketing and online activities.

Key responsibilities include:

• Welcoming visitors and helping them explore artwork and jewellery from local artists while contributing to a warm, inviting gallery experience
• Learning our products and sales approach alongside a team member before moving into independent sales (processing transactions, answering questions, wrapping purchases, and supporting returns)
• Keeping the gallery looking its best by maintaining displays, restocking and polishing jewellery, and helping keep the space clean and organized, with occasional light exterior upkeep
• Supporting marketing and online activities such as photo shoots, product uploads, online listings, and shipping orders. This may involve assisting with models, photography setup, and equipment, and occasionally participating in brand content with consent and a signed photo release
• Supporting overall gallery operations by assisting with events, following opening/closing and product handling procedures, and updating inventory quantities and costs as new stock arrives

What We’re Looking For:

• A genuine connection to Haida Gwaii and respect for the art, artists, and culture of this place
• Positive, reliable, and detail-oriented, with a collaborative mindset and a willingness to learn new skills (customer service experience is helpful but not required)

Hours & Compensation:

This role may be filled as either a full-time year-round position (approximately 40 hours per week) or a full-time seasonal role for the summer months, depending on the candidate. The schedule will include Saturdays, with remaining days determined based on operational needs.

Wage: Starting at $26.00/hour (final compensation discussed during the interview).

Flexible start dates and seasonal timelines.

Benefits: Full-time employees may be eligible for a Health Spending Account after three months (amount discretionary). Additional insurance options may be introduced in the future. Staff discount.

We are a local art gallery and jewellery store in Tlell, Haida Gwaii. We specialize in highlighting artwork and jewellery by Haida and Northwest Coast artists. We also sell high-quality crystals and minerals. In 2021 we started the Artists Tool Fund to purchase tools for local artists. Owned and operated locally since 1984, now run by the second generation.
