Cedar & Soil Landscapes is an ecological landscaping company dedicated to sustainable practices and creating vibrant, natural spaces. We specialize in designing, implementing, and maintaining landscapes that enhance biodiversity, promote environmental stewardship, and enrich our communities. We recognize that our clients are intellegent, well intentioned adult humans, and when empowered with the right information, they're always open to/eager to try new (more ecologically sound) things in their gardens.

We're looking to fill two positions, please find the details for each position below.

Lead Gardener Position Overview:

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Lead Gardener to oversee our maintenance operations. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of ecological principles, a strong background in horticulture – specifically landscape maintenance, and a commitment to sustainable landscaping practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of gardening tasks, including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, and mulching, using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
  • Maintain and implement ecological landscapes, including native plantings, rain gardens, food gardens, and pollinator habitats.
  • Lead and supervise a small team in all aspects of landscape maintenance and implementation.
  • Implement organic and low-impact gardening practices, including composting, mulching, and natural pest management techniques.
  • Conduct site assessments, soil analysis, and plant inventories to inform landscape design and maintenance strategies.
  • Educate clients and team members on ecological principles, sustainable landscaping practices, and the benefits of native & pollinator plantings.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and inventory supplies necessary for gardening operations.
  • Keep detailed records of daily operations.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a Horticulture Certification program, or minimum of level 1.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in landscape maintenance or a combination of other horticulture/ecological restoration related positions.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team. Collaboration and communication are essential aspects of our workplace.
  • Extensive knowledge of plant species.
  • Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.

Gardener Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for sustainable gardening practices and a strong commitment to preserving the natural environment. As a Gardener at Cedar & Soil Landscapes, you will play a vital role in creating and maintaining beautiful and thriving landscapes that promote biodiversity and ecological sustainability.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a variety of gardening tasks, including planting, watering, weeding, pruning, and mulching, using sustainable and environmentally friendly practices.
  • Assist in the design and implementation of ecological landscape projects, incorporating native plants, pollinator-friendly gardens, rain gardens, and other sustainable elements.
  • Monitor plant health and diagnose and treat pest and disease problems using organic and non-toxic methods.
  • Maintain garden tools and equipment in good working condition and ensure proper storage and maintenance practices.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure that all gardening activities are carried out efficiently and effectively.
  • Educate clients and community members about the benefits of ecological landscaping and sustainable gardening practices.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in gardening, landscaping, or horticulture, with a strong understanding of ecological principles and sustainable gardening practices.
  • Knowledge of native plants, organic gardening methods, and integrated pest management techniques considered a bonus.
  • Strong work ethic and attention to detail, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to perform manual labor in various weather conditions.
  • A commitment to environmental stewardship and a passion for promoting ecological sustainability through landscaping.
  • Positive attitude and collaborative spirit.
