Development Coordinator

General description of position:

The Development Coordinator is a key member of our fundraising team, with a balanced focus on grant writing and general fundraising responsibilities, particularly database coordination. The Development Coordinator reports to the Development Manager in a flexible hybrid working environment. The ideal candidate has fundraising experience, is an excellent writer, highly organized, a clear communicator, and deeply passionate about RAVEN’s mission.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities required

  1. Personal integrity, sound judgment, a donor stewardship orientation, a commitment to professional ethics, and a love of team collaboration.
  2. Technological proficiency.
  3. Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
  4. Demonstrated sincere interest and current knowledge of Indigenous rights and issues, including the Truth and Reconciliation Calls to Action and the UN Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples.
  5. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  6. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  7. Excellent organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
  8. Attention to detail, diligence, and commitment to data accuracy.

Education and experience desired

Required

  1. Proven experience in grant writing, database coordination, and fundraising.
  2. Knowledge of fundraising principles, techniques, and best practices.

Desirable

  1. Bachelor's degree or diploma in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, business administration, social science).
  2. Affiliation with a professional fundraising association.
  3. Networked within environmental, social justice, and/or Indigenous rights movements.

Salary range

$71,300 - $78,800

Working conditions

  1. This is a flexible hybrid position based out of the Victoria, BC office which involves working mainly indoors and may also involve work at events which may be outdoors, or at other venues, or work after hours or on weekends. Full-time employment is 35 hours per week.
  2. Occasional lifting of equipment such as computers, chairs, or comparable items up to fifteen (15) kilograms may be required.
  3. Extended periods working at a computer may be expected.

Perform: Primary tasks and areas of responsibility

Grant Writing

  1. Conduct thorough research to identify potential grant opportunities from foundations and corporations that align with the RAVEN's mission and campaigns.
  2. Write, prepare, and submit compelling LOIs, grant proposals, applications, and reports, ensuring alignment with funder guidelines and deadlines.
  3. Maintain grants coordination and management systems with detailed records of grant submissions, deadlines, finances, and reporting requirements.
  4. Collaborate with the Development Manager to ensure that relevant grant information is tracked and kept up-to-date and that the grant-writing team is supported.

Customer Relationship Management (CRM) & Database Coordination

  1. Maintain and update CRM with accurate and up-to-date information, including donor contacts, contributions, and communication logs.
  2. Regularly generate, review, and optimize Salesforce workflows, reports, and dashboards to enhance fundraising effectiveness.
  3. Coordinate front-end operations for all donation platforms and fundraising services, including Fundraise Up, Canada Helps, Campaign Monitor, Grant Advance, PayPal Giving Fund, Benevity, 1% for the Planet, and 360MatchPro.

Fundraising

  1. Assist in planning and executing fundraising campaigns, including online fundraising and annual appeals.
  2. Participate in donor stewardship activities, including acknowledgment letters, donor recognition programs and mailings, and cultivation events.
  3. Work closely with the communications and campaigns teams to ensure fundraising efforts are integrated with overall organizational goals and strategies.
  4. Provide support for peer-to-peer fundraisers, including onboarding, troubleshooting, and recognition.
  5. Support in organizing and executing fundraising events, and provide live donor support during online webinars and livestreams.
  6. Conduct fundraising activities for the Friends of RAVEN Foundation as needed.

Results and outputs expected for this role

  1. Grants proposals, applications, and reports are written and delivered in line with RAVEN’s standards and deadlines.
  2. Donor contracts, contributions, and communications are logged and up-to-date at all times.
  3. Records, deadlines, and reporting requirements for grants are detailed and organized.
  4. CRMs and Databases are optimized to enhance fundraising effectiveness.
  5. Comprehensive reports are generated for actionable insights.
  6. Thriving relationships are developed and maintained with current and potential sponsors and donors.

This job description is a general overview of the position and may be subject to relevant changes based on RAVEN's needs and priorities.
