Position: Intermediate Field Biologist / Water Quality Technician

Location: The position will be based on the Woodfibre LNG project site in Squamish, BC. Candidates from outside of the immediate Squamish area can expect camp accommodation on a converted cruise ship moored on site during their shift.
Position Summary:

Roe Environmental is seeking experienced and motivated intermediate field biologists with demonstrated water quality monitoring competencies for an immediate start.
The role will be engaged with field delivery of a complex water quality program on the Woodfibre LNG project in Squamish, BC, with potential for future work beyond project culmination. Advanced water quality sampling and data collection skills, comfort working long hours in adverse weather and on marine vessels, a team-oriented mentality, and the legal right to work in Canada are essential.
Camp facilities will be available for non-local candidates, daily transportation to/from project site from Squamish will be available for local candidates.
Position Terms:
● Temporary contract from June 2026 – February 2027 with opportunity for continued full time employment.
● Position to require shift work – typically 2 weeks on, 1 week off.
● Normal working days are likely to be 10 - 12 hours in length.

Position Requirements:
● Demonstrated diverse experience with water quality monitoring and sampling across a range of projects and ecosystems (upland and marine).
● Experience collecting sediment, benthic, spoils, and overburden samples.
● Knowledge of relevant guidelines and best practices.
● Experience on large construction projects and marine construction environments.
● Strong interpersonal and collaborative skills along with effective client communication abilities.
● Refined data collection skills and proficiency interpreting analytical results are strongly desired.
Job Duties:
● Daily upland and marine water quality monitoring and sample collection.
● Sediment sample collection across a range of substrates, overburden, and spoils.
● Interfacing effectively with the Water Quality team, contractors, and various on-site personnel.
● Populating daily reports and contributing to client requests and reporting deliverables.
● Contributing to QA/QC of field data and analytical results.
Hiring Preference: Priority placement will be given to (1) Squamish Nation members and (2) Indigenous candidates with demonstrated experience and competency, and (3) Canadian citizens/permanent residents.
Compensation: $32.00/hour - $36.00/hour based on experience and qualifications.
