The Environmental Project Coordinator will work to deliver community-based environmental/sustainability programs and support ongoing conservation projects. The coordinator will focus mainly on leading the delivery of educational field trips at the One Mile Lake Nature Centre and environmental events and workshops. The Coordinator ensures that all outdoor experiences are well-organized, safe, and educational, while also collecting feedback from participants to inform future programming. Additionally, this individual will support the Streamkeepers Program and Beaver Conservation project as needed and as time permits.

The role involves both direct education, administrative work, hands-on project coordination tasks, and community outreach. This individual will be supported by, and work with, the Executive Director to deliver and develop the projects. The Coordinator will submit bi-weekly project reports to the Executive Director, and schedule bi-weekly or monthly check-ins as needed. The Coordinator will record and track project data and help report on program outcomes. The successful candidate will play a vital role in supporting environmental sustainability, educating youth, engaging with the community, and working in the field of environmental conservation.

We are currently seeking funding to expand this role to a 2 day/week position, and will communicate closely with the coordinator to ensure a smooth transition.

Key Responsibilities and Time Allocation:

  • Record and track project data (e.g., # event attendees, # of volunteers, etc.) using shared Google Drive documents.
  • Write one social media post per month to showcase project success and recruit volunteers.

  • Work with volunteer project-lead Brennan to support the beaver habitat conservation project. This project monitors and maintains beaver habitat at One Mile Lake to support local beaver populations while maintaining water quality for lake swimmers.
  • Help with volunteer outreach and engagement, as well as hands-on project support during the busy season for both projects.
